Today our Mormon Slough Restoration Association wrapped up our second and final Community Design Visioning Meeting for the Mormon Slough Restoration Project. We’re immensely grateful for every community member who spent their day with us discussing their priorities, concerns, and ideas for the six-mile slough.

We also want to thank the San Francisco Estuary Institute / Aquatic Science Center for helping facilitate productive discussions, and to the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, Vice Mayor Lee, District 4 Councilmember Mario Enríquez, and Supervisor Mario Gardea, District One for joining us today!

💧 With recent reports of aging water infrastructure causing mass concern in Los Angeles, now more than ever do we need a new way forward for California water.

Adopting the Water Renaissance Plan puts communities first and could create 60,000 jobs and generate $100 billion in economic investment across Southern California.

Alongside Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians , San Francisco Baykeeper , Friends of the River , California Sportfishing Protection Alliance , Yosemite Rivers Alliance , Sierra Club California , Resource Renewal Institute (RRI) , Golden State Salmon Association , Defenders of Wildlife , Los Angeles Waterkeeper , and Women for Wolves , the Water Renaissance Plan continues to gain momentum, with about 20 additional organizations providing their endorsements.

: 5 water main breaks in a week raising questions about Los Angeles' aging infrastructure

Last week, a total of five water main breaks were reported within a single week, raising serious concerns about the city’s aging water infrastructure.

These ruptures are a reminder that California must rethink its approach to water resilience. Southern California should embrace the Water Renaissance Plan by investing in sustainable, local water supplies and practical infrastructure upgrades that strengthen reliability and help prevent future disasters, rather than relying on large-scale water diversion projects.
