Community leader Rhodesia Ransom announced her candidacy to replace termed-out State Senator Susan Eggman in Senate District 5. She would be the first black woman elected to represent SD-5 in Sacramento since the seat’s creation in 1883. A resident of Tracy for more than twenty years, Ransom has served as a non-profit co-founder and Executive Director of Sow A Seed Foundation, a planning commissioner, a member of the Tracy City Council, and District Director for Congressman Josh Harder. She has worked tirelessly to strengthen the area’s economy, improve public services, and expand opportunities for young people. Ransom attributes her passion for public service to the time she spent as a child working alongside her grandmother on volunteer projects to connect vulnerable families to resources such as food, housing, and other critical services. Shaped by those experiences, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree at San Francisco State University and a Master’s in Public Administration at Golden Gate University.

Thank you to everyone who attended my campaign event this week! We are just 32 days away from the June primary and I’m ready to continue putting in the work for AD13 💛
Happy Friday ☀️ I'm excited to share some of my accomplishments in my first year in office! There's a lot more work ahead - I would love to earn your support in my re-election to the Sate Assembly.

I have officially filed for re-election to continue serving Assembly District 13 — Stockton, Tracy, Mountain House, and French Camp.
From day one, the commitment was simple: keep promises and deliver results. My office has done just that since being elected in 2024. We’ve brought back millions in state resources to San Joaquin County and helped residents recover nearly $1 million through casework services.
I’ve passed laws to lower costs for families, protect local jobs, strengthen public safety, while defending our Delta and agricultural economy. We’ve proven that more gets done when you put people over politics.
It’s an honor to represent this community, and the work continues. ✨
