Hi friends ❤️ We could really use some help restocking supplies for the rescue.

Right now we have 76 dogs and 14 cats in foster care = 90 animals total. Caring for this many animals every single day takes a lot, and we’re running low on some of the things we use the most.

We are currently in need of:

🦴 Dog & cat treats
🐱 Cat litter
🦮 Dog leashes & collars
🐶 Puppy pads
🧺 Washable/reusable pads

All of these supplies are already on our Amazon Wishlist, making it easy to send something directly to the rescue and help keep our foster babies fed, comfortable, and cared for.

These babies all came to us needing a second chance. Many came from really sad situations, and now they’re safe in foster homes while they wait for their forever families.

Even one bag of food, one box of puppy pads, a bag of litter, or some treats helps more than people realize. When you’re caring for 90 animals, supplies go FAST.

KALI UPDATE 🐾

Kali was just picked up from the vet.

They shaved the area on her back and found a wound underneath that is already in the healing process. She’ll be on a topical ointment until it completely heals, along with oral antibiotics. She also had lab work done today.

As for her teeth, the vet suspects she may have ingested or been exposed to something that damaged her puppy teeth. For now, they are stable. We’ll have to wait and see what happens as her adult teeth start coming in and hope they develop normally.

The good news is Kali is eating and drinking well and seems to be feeling okay.

For now, she’ll be quarantined for the next 2 weeks so we can closely monitor her and make sure she doesn’t come down with Parvo or anything else. She’ll also be starting flea and tick treatment tonight along with deworming.

Unfortunately, the skin on her back has been permanently damaged and will have to heal the way it is. Her hair may grow back, or it may not. The exact cause is still unknown, and there are honestly so many possibilities. We can only imagine what this little girl went through before she came to us.

And a huge thank you to Kali’s foster for opening her home to her and giving her a safe, comfortable place to heal. Fosters are the reason we are able to say yes to dogs like Kali, and we are so grateful for her.

Now we wait, pray she stays healthy through quarantine, and give her time to heal. Once she is completely recovered and medically cleared, we’ll start getting her ready for adoption.

🖤 Today is National Black Dog Day🖤 and we’re putting our black dogs AND cats in the spotlight.

Black animals are so easy to scroll past.

They don’t have the bright colored coats that don’t make an animal instantly stand out in a photo. Their faces can be harder to capture on camera, they blend into darker backgrounds, and too often they end up staying in the shadows while others get noticed first.

So today, LOOK at these faces. 🖤

Every single dog and cat in this post has their own personality and story. They’re goofy, sweet, loyal, cuddly, playful and loving, and some of them have been waiting far too long for someone to notice them.

Hungry Tailz Rescue is completely foster-based, so these dogs and cats are not all in one location. They’re being cared for by amazing foster families in different cities throughout the 209 area while they wait for their forever homes.

Meet Kali. 💔 She’s only about 10 weeks old, and this is what life on the streets has already done to her.

We picked Kali up today from a homeless encampment in Stockton, CA. She appears to be a German Shepherd mix, and despite everything, she is still just a baby.

She is covered in fleas and ticks. Her teeth have a strange discoloration that is very unusual for a puppy this young, and the most concerning part is the large area across her back. Her skin looks severely damaged, almost melted in some areas, and right now, we do not know what caused it.

Kali has a vet appointment tomorrow morning, and we are preparing for whatever comes next. She may need sedation or anesthesia so the area can be thoroughly cleaned, examined, and treated. We simply won’t know the extent of her care until the veterinarian sees her.

Kali is one puppy, but there are countless others living in the same conditions right now. We cannot fix the entire problem, but we can change the entire world for the ones we are able to reach.

We currently have nearly 100 dogs and cats in foster care. Vet bills, food, medications, preventatives, supplies, and ongoing medical cases add up incredibly fast. Taking in another medical puppy is a huge financial responsibility, but leaving her there was never an option for us.

We really need our community’s help with Kali.

Kali deserved better than the condition we found her in. From this point forward, we’re going to make sure she gets it.

Hi, I’m Tito! 🐾 I’ve been waiting for a home for so many months now… I honestly lost count. Somehow, I still haven’t had much interest. Maybe my person just hasn’t seen me yet?

I’m about 3–4 years old, around 70–80 lbs, and they think I’m a Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix. I’m a big boy, but everyone who knows me says I’m basically just a giant teddy bear. 🧸

I was rescued from the shelter when I was on the euthanasia list, and I’ve been waiting for my forever family ever since. I’m a very gentle, easy-going guy and honestly don’t ask for much.

I’m potty trained, I do great in my kennel run, and I’m dog friendly with slow introductions. I haven’t been around cats, so a home without cats would probably be best.

I love treats, toys, getting pets, and being around my people and I LOVE kids. I get a little burst of puppy energy every now and then, but most of the time I’m pretty chill and would happily find somewhere comfy to lay down.

And I should probably warn you… I’m VERY serious about belly rubs. 😂 I’ll throw my entire 70–80 lb body onto the ground dramatically just to make sure you get the hint.

I’m really just a big baby looking for someone to love me. I’m not sure why I’ve been overlooked for so long because I promise I’m a pretty easy guy to love.

Hopefully I don’t have to keep counting the months much longer. 🤎🐾

Hi! My name is Leah, I’m 6 months old, and I’m a terrier mix. 💕

Before I was even born, my mama was living in a homeless encampment, very pregnant and needing somewhere safe. She was rescued just in time and, only a few days later, she gave birth to me and my siblings in the safety of our foster home. 🐾

Since then, I’ve watched something pretty amazing happen…

One by one, every single one of my siblings got adopted. I watched them leave with their new families, and eventually, even my mama found her forever home.

I’m so happy for them… but I’m still here waiting for mine. 🥺

I don’t know why I haven’t been chosen yet. I’m a happy, silly, playful girl who LOVES to have fun. I’m dog friendly, cat friendly, and kid friendly, and I have so much love to give.

I’m also kennel trained and I’ve been doing really well with potty training! In my foster home, I’m good about going potty outside as long as I have access to the doggy door so I can take myself out when I need to. Of course, I’m still a puppy and will need some patience and consistency while I adjust to the routine in a new home.

I’m only 6 months old, so I’m still learning and growing. I’ll need a family willing to continue teaching me as I grow. In return, I promise to give you lots of laughs, puppy kisses, playtime, and a best friend who will grow up loving you. ❤️

My mama got her happy ending. My siblings got theirs. Now I’m just waiting for someone to tell me, “Leah, it’s finally your turn.”

I’ve watched every single one of my babies get chosen. I’m still waiting for someone to choose me. 🥺💜

I’m Violet! I’m a 3 year old Pittie mix, and my story started months ago at the shelter when I arrived pregnant. I gave birth to my babies there. Thankfully my foster family said yes to taking me in.

I raised my babies, watched them grow, and then watched every single one of them find their forever families. I was so happy for them… but somehow, I’m still here waiting for mine.

I promise I’m a pretty great girl. I’m potty trained and kennel trained, I know my basic commands, and I’m VERY treat motivated. So if you have snacks, you already have my attention. I love going for walks, riding in the car, playing fetch, and when we’re done having fun, I’m a certified couch potato.

My favorite place is wherever my humans are. I’ll happily lay next to you, follow you around, and give you all the kisses you can handle. 💜

I’m kid friendly and I can do great with other dogs! I just get a little too excited when I first meet a new friend, so I need a slow, proper introduction and a little time to settle down. Once I relax, I’m amazing with them. I haven’t been around cats, so we’re not sure how I feel about them yet.

I’ve been waiting for months now, and the holidays are getting closer. 🎄 All I want for Christmas is what all of my babies already got…a family of my own.💟
