There are Heroes’ walking amongst us. Heroes’ who walk quietly looking for neither recognition or celebration and yet they deserve both. Heroes’ who’ve sacrificed a part of their lives so we as a country can have the freedoms their sacrifices ensure. This Veterans Day we celebrate these heroes’.
At Marley’s Mutts we are fortunate to have two such heroes’ still giving back because a heroes’ work is never done.
*Connor Long, our Operations Manager, served for 4 years - E4 3rd Class Petty Officer Builder in the Us Navy. He was deployed to both Africa and Spain and was stationed in Ventura county
*Dan Tordoff, Facility Maintenance, served for 8 years - E5 2nd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy. He was an Aircraft Mechanic Engine Builder and part of C130 Aircrew Mediterranean and Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.
Today as we celebrate everything these men have given and still give we hope you’ll also celebrate the thousands of veterans who served so we can be free. We believe our veterans should be celebrated every day and because the human/canine bond is therapeutic to so many veteran adoptions and our Troops N Tails program are always free every single day of the year 🇺🇸

Titan has come so far from the beat up discarded dog who walked through our rescue gates 6 months ago. Physically he’s healed and emotionally he’s in a completely different place. His time in rescue has allowed him to not only grow but thrive. This is the beauty of the work rescues do. We give lives who need more time or who are out of time the lifeline they so desperately need.
With Troops N Tails that lifeline extends not just to the dogs in our care but also to the very humans who have given a portion of their lives to make our lives better, our veterans and 1st responders. We believe in the healing power of dogs and together our dogs and these amazing people have the chance to grow, change and rebuild a meaningful life.
Titan is still working hard to rebuild his life and is ready to take the next step through adoption. He’s an amazing dog who’s been great with every dog and human he’s met and has a ton of love to give to a family. If you’ve been looking for a survivor who’s ready to be the perfect devoted companion please consider giving Titan the forever home he’s never had ❤️

Resilient is a word we’d use to describe so many of the dogs in our rescue. They’ve been through unspeakable things and still find the strength to get through another day. Dogs like Harper may have struggled but with our help they now thrive! Those same dogs share their strength with the humans they work with. Side by side overcoming the things in their past that may hold them back.
Animal assisted therapy is at the heart of Troops N Tails. Together dog and human find the resilience to move forward. Want to learn more or get involved? Please reach out to our program coordinator Connor Long [email protected] and let’s make more of these connections a possibility!

Resilience! It’s what every one of our programs are all about! The dogs, like Kermit pictured, we help overcome the worst humanity has to offer and the humans we touch giving them the lifeline they need to realize just how resilient they truly are. 2nd chances are made possible because of the amazing team we have in place working tirelessly to make a difference. One person one dog at a time.
Troops and Tails wants YOU! Not every service member needs therapy but every individual who’s been of service has the skills, mindset and determination we value. The ability to get the job done no matter what and the team oriented outlook that pushes you to always give more than your best! You can give back by being part of our volunteer team!
You’ll join a dedicated group of like minded individuals and give back to those most in need. It’s rewarding, it’s inspiring and most of all it’s life changing! Want to join the team? Head to the linktree in our bio or to the volunteer section of our website and sign up. We can’t wait to make you a part of our hardworking team!

We all hit low points in our lives. Knowing where to go for support during those times can be life saving. There is no shame in asking for help and so many people are willing and able to be a support system when you need it. Break the stigma, seek support!

Have you struggled with depression? Suicidal thoughts? What helped you? How did you work through it?
So many of us have experienced these feelings and thoughts and thankfully, we are still here to talk about it. Sharing our experiences helps break down the stigma surrounding mental health. We want to help those in need and we want to celebrate those who have overcome these feelings and thoughts.
Can your experience save someone? We think so!

Mental health can be a hard topic to discuss but your life is worth it!! Here are Marley’s Mutts, we care about more than just the dogs. We care about people! Our Troops N Tails program is designed to help veterans, military members, and first responders. This program is free of charge and does not require a referral. We pair participants with rescue dogs and work through different exercises and then, along with qualified mental health professionals, we explore the feelings that come up for our participants.
Please reach out if you would like to learn more or would like to participate.

We’ll never truly know all they’ve been through but that doesn’t mean we can’t support their ability to heal. Dogs like Titan thrive when given the chance and have the unique ability to directly relate to our veterans and 1st responders. Through Troops and Tails these dogs walk alongside men and women most in need. Together they overcome what life has thrown their way growing into better versions of themselves along the way.
Want to learn more? Check out our newest program of service by going to the Troops and Tails tab on our website.
