Kamal Ravikant asked a room full of Entrepreneurs at the Genius Network Annual Event a simple question: who here has had something blow up?

His own story: two and a half years building a Silicon Valley startup, payroll on credit cards, and then total collapse. He lost every dime he had, along with money from friends who believed in him. His ego had been built entirely on performance, so when the company failed, he did too.

The turnaround started with a vow. In a moment of desperation, Kamal committed to loving himself. He treated it as a sacred commitment and practiced it daily. Within about a week and a half, his inner dialogue began to shift, and his life followed.

Today Kamal is a venture investor who backed companies like Vercel and Perplexity early, and the author of the bestseller Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It.

The lesson for entrepreneurs: an identity tied only to results is fragile. Build the inner foundation first.
