There is no formula for holiness. It is meant to be uniquely carried out by each of us as God individually calls us to live in union with Him.

Yet, when we look at the Saints arrayed in glory, there are commonalities within their spiritual lives. One such aspect is their reliance upon Mary, our Blessed Mother.

New month, new wallpaper. 🩵

Let’s keep Mary’s words to the servants at the wedding feast at Cana before our minds all month long: "Do whatever He tells you" (John 2:5).

Whatever may come this August, may we listen for the voice of Jesus, trust Him completely, and respond with joyful obedience.

Save this month's free wallpaper and give your heart a much needed reminder every time you unlock your phone or glance at your desktop. ✨

Herod should have met my sister, for he “feared the people” (Matthew 14:5). If she’d stepped into today’s Gospel from Matthew, my sister would have told him, “You’re Herod! Why do you care what people think if you don’t behead John the Baptist? Have a little courage and self-respect, man!” I can see this confrontation in my mind—my sister towering and beautiful over this quivering, insecure king. The image fills me with delight and fervor to serve the Lord with greater fearlessness.

When we are afraid of what others think, we must remember who we are: daughters of the King. He will give us the strength to do what is right—no matter the mocking crowds.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam: for the greater glory of God. 🖤🙌🏻

St. Ignatius of Loyola reminds us that every moment, no matter how ordinary, can be lived for God's glory. Every prayer, every task, every yes, lived with and for Him, is an offering.

Four simple letters, AMDG, can guide our every step. May they become our prayer today. 🙏🏻

When I bring my questions to Jesus, He assures me that as I keep coming to Him, he will help me to receive His truth always. I need not hide. He sees every part of me. Under the gaze of His love, I can admit to Him my failings and weaknesses. His love burns away the false ideal of “good girl” that I’ve tried to portray. What remains is a woman with both strengths and weaknesses, one who, having received God’s mercy anew, is more free to live as a beloved child of God and hear the truth from whomever He sends.

Sister, we are not so different from the residents of Jesus’ native place. And just as He wanted to teach and heal them, Jesus wants to transform our hearts. Are we willing to ask Him for the grace to receive it when someone close to us speaks a truth that stings?

It’s one of my very earliest memories—sobbing my heart out to the whirring sounds of the power screwdriver, and above it all, my father’s repeated words of consolation: “Don’t worry, Monica, I’m coming, I’m here.” I was just a little girl, maybe two or three, who had locked herself in the bathroom. In my terror and longing for safety, it felt like an eternity until I was in my dad’s arms on the other side...

The same God Who parted the sea for His people and fed them manna in the desert comes to rescue us too—in the confessional, in the Eucharist, in the Scriptures. Our Father hears the cries of our hearts, and they break His as He says: “Don’t worry, sweet girl, I’m here.”

The Saints have a beautiful way of expressing the human experience through their unique experiences.

And we, too, have the opportunity to receive and express God’s love uniquely through our lives.

I’m grateful that the Saints didn’t shy away from their unique experiences, their surrendered perspectives, and their radical love.

Lord, help us be brave. To receive your love with surrendered hearts and to share that life-changing love with those right in front of us.

Saints Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, pray for us 🫶🏽
