Blessed Is She

"No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). A farmer looking backward cannot move forward in a straight line. In the same way, following Jesus requires a certain freedom of heart—a willingness to trust Him with what lies ahead rather than constantly measuring what we're leaving behind.

That doesn't mean the road is easy. It means Christ Himself is worth following.

We all have our own versions of "but first" (Luke 9:61). May we have the courage to place them before the Lord and trust Him with what we cannot yet see. For the Kingdom is built not by looking backward, but by fixing our eyes on the One Who calls us forward.

The angels are closer than you might think. 🤍

God created them as spiritual beings who worship Him, serve Him, and carry out His will. And in Scripture, three of them are given to us by name: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

Michael reminds us that nothing compares to God. Gabriel brings the good news of the Incarnation. Raphael reminds us that God heals.

They aren’t just beautiful figures in our churches or names we hear at Mass. They are part of the family of God. The Church invites us to ask for their help and intercession. ✨

So call on them. Learn their stories. Ask them to help you love and serve the Lord more faithfully. They are there to help us.

Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, pray for us! 🕊️

When I ask the Lord with Nathanael, “How do you know me?“ (John 1:48), He reveals to me the figurative fig trees I’ve sat under—pondering His presence, questioning His motives, convincing my heart to trust even when I cannot see the sky opened with angels just yet (see John 1:51). And I know at that moment that He knows me. This knowledge carries me through the days when it is cloudy and I cannot see the glory, when the vision of angels seems like a taunt more than a promise.

Sister, the Lord has our good in mind. He sees us where we are seated, wondering what is to come, and He speaks to us the promise He made to Nathanael: You will see greater things. Follow after Me, cling to Me. I will open the heavens for you, you will see miracles, and you will see Me.

[My nephew] stayed on his knees in silence, eyes fixed on the ornate crucifix in the center.

My heart melted as I watched him, and when he got up a few moments later, he smiled shyly and said, “I was just looking at Him.”

My nephew’s words are the perfect response to the Psalmist’s instruction today: “Look to him that you may be radiant with joy” (Psalm 34:6). A mere look may not seem like much, dearest sister, but when we look to Him, the fire of divine love looks back at us, with power to heal, redeem, and cast its holy glow on whatever hurts our hearts carry. Indeed, a single glance in His direction can deliver us from all our fears (see Psalm 34:5). Even when our eyes drift, the divine gaze of God never leaves. So, let’s allow the radiance of His gaze to shine on our souls and reflect brilliantly onto our families, our communities, our churches, our world. Let’s bask in the joy that comes from knowing and seeing Jesus in our lives.

Who can you encourage today with a simple text, prayer, or reminder that they’re loved? 💞

As I ponder the passage, Jesus invites me to remember promises He spoke to me and a painful event that followed. I ask about the meaning of what He had said. He reassures me that He is still at work and will keep His promise to me, and that I can ask Him anything, trusting without reservation.

Sisters, there is nothing we cannot bring to Jesus. No question is off limits. Even our most deeply hidden doubts and fears lose their power over us in light of His love and grace. As certainly as Jesus died on the Cross and rose again three days later, He will complete the Father’s good work in us. We need not be afraid to ask.
