History of Flowerfields Florist

Bobbie Greenhaw opened Flowerfields Florist in 1977. She and her husband, James, personally renovated the cottage-style home that became the shop, transforming it into the welcoming florist that would serve the Terrell community for many years.
During the shop’s first year, Bobbie continued working full-time at Terrell State Hospital while hiring an experienced florist to manage the business. She spent her lunch hours and evenings delivering flowers, determined to build Flowerfields into a success. Her dedication and strong work ethic were unmatched, and it was not unusual for her to work seven days a week.
Flowerfields truly became a family business. Her three children would return to Terrell to help during the busiest seasons, including Homecoming, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmas decorating. Everyone pitched in to help meet the needs of the community during those special occasions.
Bobbie was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Pilot Club, and she took great pride in serving the people of Terrell. When the time came to retire and sell Flowerfields, it was one of the hardest decisions she ever made. She loved both living and working in Terrell, and her passion for the community was reflected in everything she did.
Bobbie passed away in August 2011, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and dedication to her family, her customers, and the Terrell community.
Since Flowerfields opened in 1977, there have been only a few owners. Following Bobbie’s ownership, the shop was owned by Bill Anderson, then Danny and Charla Anderson. In May 2005, Cookie Shepard purchased Flowerfields Florist and continues to carry on its tradition of providing quality floral designs and exceptional service to the Terrell community.
The foundation Bobbie built through hard work, faith, and a commitment to serving others remains an important part of Flowerfields’ legacy today.
