Terrell Police K9 Unit Assists DPS in Major Narcotics Seizure

On Friday, September 11, 2026, Terrell Police Department K9 Officer M. Anders and K9 Drake responded to Interstate 20 near the 503-mile marker to assist Texas DPS during a traffic stop.

K9 Drake was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics. A subsequent probable cause search resulted in the discovery of approximately 16.1 pounds of Xanax, 28 grams of fentanyl, and 1.6 grams of ecstasy pills concealed inside a duffel bag in the rear seat of the vehicle.

The driver was arrested in connection with the narcotics seizure.

This seizure is a great example of the important role our K9 Unit plays in supporting our law enforcement partners and helping intercept dangerous drugs before they reach our communities.

Great work, K9 Drake, Officer Anders, and Texas DPS!

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor those who answered the call, and stand with the families forever changed. The Terrell Police Department joins our nation in remembrance. We will never forget.
