When was the last time you had your cholesterol checked? πŸ«€

If you can't remember, it might be time to find out. High cholesterol usually has no symptoms, which means many people don't know they have it until something more serious happens.

The American Heart Association recommends that adults 19 and older get their cholesterol checked at least every five years. But depending on your age, family history, or health conditions, your provider may recommend more frequent checks.

The good news? A simple blood test is all it takes. And catching high cholesterol early gives you the best chance to manage it β€” through lifestyle changes, medication, or both.

A few things worth knowing:
πŸ”Ή Anyone can have high cholesterol, regardless of weight, age, or s*x
πŸ”Ή Diet and exercise help, but they are not the whole picture
πŸ”Ή Family history plays a big role, so share it with your provider

Don't wait for a symptom that may never come. Talk to your healthcare provider at your next visit about your cholesterol and what your numbers mean. πŸ’™

How to Read a Nutrition Label 09/21/2026

Do you know how to read a nutrition label? πŸ₯«πŸ’™

It's one of the simplest ways to make smarter food choices. Here's what to look for:

βœ… More of fiber, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium
🚫 Less of saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar

And don't forget to check the serving size (it matters more than you might think)!

We also know that eating healthy is not always easy. If you are struggling to access enough food or healthy options, resources like the Oregon Food Bank Food Finder, Double Up Food Bucks, and 211 can help.

Last Saturday, NHC brought free health services and community resources to Canby for the very first time, and the community showed up. 😊

Vision screenings, dental screenings, blood pressure checks, insurance help, Farmers Market produce vouchers, and so much more β€” all completely free, right in the heart of Canby.

And thanks to our partners at Bridging Cultures, the day was filled with food, music, and community energy that made it feel like so much more than a health fair. 🎢

Thank you to every single community partner, NHC team member, and neighbor who came out and made Canby’s first-ever health fair one to remember. We cannot wait to come back. πŸ’™

How to Know the Difference Between True and False Labor 09/17/2026

The last few weeks of pregnancy can feel like a waiting game. 🀰

When contractions start, it can be hard to know... Is this the real thing?

Here's a helpful trick: time your contractions and drink a glass of water. If they stop with rest and hydration, it is likely false labor. If they keep coming and get stronger and closer together, it may be the real thing.

When in doubt? Always call your provider. Your care team would rather hear from you than have you wait too long. πŸ’™
