The wait is almost over, and history is officially in the making. After more than a decade of silence on the track, live horse racing is making a triumphant return to Greenwood County!
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KRGC) is thrilled to announce that official live race dates for Eureka Downs have been approved for this fall. Fans, horsemen, and local community members can mark their calendars for an action-packed six-day meet:

October 31–November 1 (Halloween Weekend)
As the regulatory body overseeing pari-mutuel wagering in the state, the KRGC is working hand-in-hand with participants to ensure a seamless opening day. Influx management for occupational and concessionaire licenses is currently underway, setting the stage for a safe, transparent, and competitive race meet.
This revival represents more than just a series of races—it’s a powerful economic catalyst for rural Kansas, an incredible boost for our breeders and owners, and the resurrection of a beloved Kansas tradition.

In anticipation of the large influx of occupation license applicants for the upcoming race meet at Eureka Downs, we are encouraging everyone who needs an occupation license to begin the licensing process early. Please visit Parimutuel Racing | KRGCfor more information. It is your responsibility to become licensed prior to performing most activities at Eureka Downs. The licensing office at Eureka Downs will be open starting Monday, October 5th at Noon. A complete list of hours is listed below:

After the first day of racing the office will be open every following Friday, Saturday and Sunday during race weekends.
Alert:
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has been made aware of a scam where the caller requests $15,000 be deposited into a KRGC account in order to "collect a 8.5-million-dollar prize." The KRGC does not ever make calls like this nor does it run these types of contests.

This meeting was called for the limited purpose of fulfilling the commission’s statutory duty to distribute the horse fair benefit fund and Kansas horse breeding development fund.

With the return of parimutuel racing to Eureka Downs in Eureka, Kansas, the Kansas Racing & Gaming Commission is providing information on occupational licenses and concessionaire licenses under the “Regulated info” section at the top navigation tabs. Click on the Parimutuel Racing link for details on accepted forms of payment, required items to provide for licensing and who to contact for questions on occupational or concessionaire licenses. Links for applications pertaining to occupational or concessionaire licenses can also be found on the Parimutuel Racing page.
Appointments can be made to turn in your occupational or concessionaire license applications in the Topeka, Kansas office starting on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, through Thursday, September 24th between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. For more details refer to the Parimutuel Racing page link above.
The Kansas Racing & Gaming Commission will open a licensing office at Eureka Downs two (2) weeks prior to the first race weekend. The office will open on Monday, October 5th, 2026, to start accepting occupational and concessionaire license applications. A payment of $100 for the license fee will be required. Payments will only be accepted in cash. The Eureka Downs licensing office will be open on the dates and times listed below.
Applicants will be able to go to that office to submit occupational license applications and concessionaire license applications, pay license fees and have their fingerprints taken by KRGC staff.
