The Troy University band field, where rugby legends are made.

October 4, 2025: the day Ethan Graben made history as Alumni Captain. Merely one week after the Springboks 10 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu scored 37 points vs Argentina, Ethan made a homecoming trek from Illinois to captain his Trojans from across 15 years of rugby and mimicked the South African 10's stat sheet to the best of his ability and etched himself in Trojan Rugby folklore for ages to come.

The first quarter was full of tackles from all 15 members of the Troy defense, Ethan was sure to grab some of those stats with dominant tackles on the Battleship runners.

The offensive switch was engaged after the first water break with a 50/22 kick which started the Troy scoring spree. Ethan started it off with a try and conversion. He followed with 2 more conversions and 2 penalty goals.

In the second half Ethan ran down a chip and chase from about 30 meters out, converted that try as well. The Battleship offense was mounting a comeback with a scoring spree of their own, but Ethan quickly stopped that with a quick tap that resulted in 50m gained down the touch line to get the Trojans out of their half. Unfortunately the run was stopped before he was able to make it into goal. Unwavering offense and play calling resulted in the Trojans at the 5m line on the last play, already up by 41-24, Ethan needed more stats before traveling back to Illinois. A longer stat sheet to take back home to his Lake County Coyotes teammates. A quick tap and dive in for the try under the posts followed by another conversion.

Finishing up with 33 points scored.
A hat trick.
6 conversions.
2 penalty goals.
And the coveted Perry Mason - Man of the Match Award.

The day our Alumni Captain absolutely trampled the weak and hurdled the dead. No invading Battleships would Trojan Horse their way into Ethan Graben's band field turned rugby pitch once more.

Troy Rugby built Ethan Graben, and we are forever grateful for that performance.

Just 24 hours removed from the most fun day the Troy U band field has ever witnessed. Banged and bruised Trojan rugger alums are recovering from the glorious victory over Battleship and their motley crew.

The World Rugby Shop final in Troy. Alumni increase the record to 2-1 with a win over the motley Battleship Rugby FC with help from Montgomery Yellowhammers Rugby Football Club, Wiregrass and a few more helping hands from Birmingham and Pensacola.

Battleship lived inside the Troy half for the better part of the 1st quarter. Troy's defense was resilient, not allowing any scores. Once the exit was finaly made, Troy went on the offensive and it was pedal to the medal for the next 20. A comfortable lead at half and a scoreless Ship was what ultimately led to victory. 4 tries was the difference.

A revived Battleship came out swinging. Two quick tries and lazy Trojan defense told the tale in the next 20. Luckily enough, heads up plays kept Troy ahead.

Our Captain, Ethan, channeled his inner Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu from last week vs Argentina and absolutely ate the defense alive. From banging kicks down field, sliding in for tries, a 50/22, to tap and goes resulting in 50 meter dashes down the sideline. A final tap and dive in from 5m out in the final play of the match sealed his Perry Mason - Man of the Match honors. 3 tries, 2 penalty goals and too many conversions to count.

Ultimately the final in Troy on this sunny and 75 afternoon was a solid, hard earned 48 points to 24. Two years in the making brought to fruition with the blood, sweat and tears of 15 classes of Troy ruggers sees the alumni victorious over Battleship and friends.

Job done.

The face of Troy Rugby, Myles Parris, invites you to Alumni Weekend 2025 Match Day!

Kickoff 1:00pm

"There are times today where you're going to have to reach into the very depths of your soul to get to that ball, to help the guy. Don't get isolated. Don't let the guy get isolated. Stay with him at all times. Support, support, support.

When you come off this field today and you can look at your teammate in the eye and you can say I couldn't have given any more. Nobody can ask anything else.

Go out and do it. Go and do it now. Go and live it, cause you'll never forget it when you beat these guys. And we're all behind you."
