A carrier can be fully verified on paper—and the wrong person can still leave with the freight. 🚨

Active authority and insurance confirm that a carrier entity exists and is eligible to operate. They do not automatically confirm that today’s email, telephone number, dispatcher, driver, tractor or trailer actually belongs to that carrier.

That is the identity gap behind many fictitious pickups.

Criminals may use stolen carrier credentials, changed contact information or false dispatch instructions to secure a legitimate load. The paperwork may appear correct while the person and equipment arriving at the dock do not match the original assignment.

Verification must therefore continue beyond carrier onboarding and into every individual pickup.

Before releasing freight:

✅ Confirm the contact through an independently trusted channel
✅ Call back using an established carrier number
✅ Match the presented driver with the authorized driver
✅ Verify tractor and trailer numbers against dispatch records
✅ Reconfirm the pickup number and shipment details
🛑 Stop and escalate when any information fails to match

A mismatch is not a minor inconvenience. It can be the final warning before the freight disappears.

Verify the carrier—but also verify who is actually taking control of the load.

Confirm the contact. Match the driver. Check the equipment. Protect the freight.

🚨 **FMCSA GRANTS TEMPORARY HOS RELIEF FOR FUEL HAULERS**

A new FMCSA waiver is giving eligible interstate carriers transporting **gasoline and diesel fuel** additional hours-of-service flexibility from **September 16 through December 16, 2026**.

Under the waiver, a driver may drive **up to 16 hours in any 24-hour period**, subject to specific conditions and restrictions.

Key requirements include:

• **6 consecutive hours** in a sleeper berth, or
• **8 consecutive hours off duty** without a sleeper berth
• **At least 10 consecutive hours off** when a driver reports an immediate need for rest
• Drivers must carry a physical or digital copy of the waiver
• Other applicable federal and state safety requirements remain in effect

Why does this matter?

Fuel movement affects far more than tanker fleets. Changes in fuel availability and transportation costs can ripple through **carrier operations, freight capacity, agriculture and fuel surcharges** across the broader supply chain.

For freight teams, the message is simple:

**MORE HOURS. STRICT CONDITIONS. WATCH FUEL AVAILABILITY + COSTS.**

AMB Logistic will continue tracking how this temporary waiver affects fuel transportation and the wider freight market.

A $300 gross spread can quietly create a six-figure cash requirement.

Consider this freight-brokerage example:

Customer invoice: $2,500
Carrier payment: $2,200
Gross spread: $300

The carrier is paid on Day 15, but the customer pays on Day 45. That creates a 30-day funding gap.

Across 50 loads, the brokerage may temporarily need $110,000 to fund carriers before customer payments arrive.

That is a timing requirement—not a loss.

And it is separate from the broker’s $75,000 financial-security requirement through a BMC-84 surety bond or BMC-85 trust fund.

Under the updated rules effective January 16, 2026, falling below the required security level can trigger FMCSA notice. Brokers then face a seven-business-day window to restore it before operating authority may be suspended.

The lesson:

Forecast operating cash.
Monitor financial security.
Never confuse profitability with liquidity.

**TENDER REJECTIONS BREAK 14%**

Tender rejections have climbed above 14%—their highest level since early August and a clear warning that truckload capacity is tightening.

The increase outpaced the previous three Labor Day periods, even without a major national demand surge. That means modest volume growth could quickly create:

• Coverage gaps
• Higher carrier rates
• Shorter quote validity
• Greater margin pressure

Dry van remains the most volatile, re**er is steadier, and elevated flatbed pricing is beginning to cool.

Brokers and shippers should refresh rates, confirm capacity early and build backup coverage before committing.

AMB Logistic stays ahead of changing market conditions to keep freight moving with confidence.

Landstar just cut 35,000+ carriers from its network. Here's why that's not a red flag — it's a preview of where freight brokerage is headed.

From 100,000+ approved carriers in 2022 down to ~64,600 by Q2 2026. That's a 35% reduction, and it wasn't a one-time purge — it's a multiyear shift toward safety, identity verification, and fraud prevention.

Here's the thing: this isn't about 35,000 "bad" carriers. It's about a fundamental rethink of what makes a brokerage strong.

For years, the pitch was "we have access to 100,000 carriers." Bigger database = bigger advantage.

Not anymore.

A carrier with active authority and insurance can still be a risk — a compromised email, a spoofed dispatch contact, a hijacked identity. Authority and insurance are the floor, not the whole picture.

Add in the Supreme Court's Montgomery decision, which opened the door to state negligent-selection claims against brokers, and "we approved this carrier once" is no longer good enough. Brokers need to show how and when they verified a carrier — and that verification has to continue after onboarding, not stop at it.

The new question isn't "how many carriers do you have access to?"

It's: "How many were verified recently? How many can you actually defend?"

A network of 20,000 continuously verified carriers beats a database of 100,000 stale records.

A $400,000 lobster shipment reportedly disappeared after criminals impersonated a legitimate carrier.

Yes, it sounds like the plot of a freight comedy.

But for the broker, shipper, and customer, the loss was very real.
- The pickup appeared normal.
- The truck arrived.
- The paperwork looked legitimate.
- The carrier information seemed to match.

Then the shipment left the warehouse—and never reached its intended destination.

This incident highlights how modern cargo theft increasingly begins behind a screen. Criminals can use spoofed emails, compromised carrier identities, altered documents, burner phone numbers, and convincing truck markings to make a fraudulent pickup look legitimate.

That means surface-level verification is no longer enough.
- A familiar carrier name is not verification.
- An active MC number is not verification.
- A professional-looking email is not verification.
- A truck waiting at the dock is not verification.

Freight brokers need to verify independently through trusted contact channels, confirm the driver and pickup chain, review insurance coverage, investigate inconsistencies, and protect sensitive load information before releasing freight.

The headline may sound funny.

The operational lesson is serious:

Trust is not assumed in freight brokerage. It is verified.

At AMB Logistic, we believe disciplined carrier verification, clear communication, shipment visibility, and proactive risk control are essential to moving freight safely and responsibly.

Trucking rates are rising again — and shippers are looking at every option on the table.

One of the biggest shifts gaining attention is the move back toward intermodal: using rail for the long haul and trucks for final delivery.

For shippers, the reason is clear. When truckload costs climb, intermodal can become a serious cost-control option. But the decision is not only about price.

Speed matters.
Visibility matters.
Theft risk matters.
Rail delays matter.
Final-mile ex*****on matters.

That is why this is not just a rail story. It is a freight strategy story.

For freight brokers, the role is expanding. Customers need more than a truck quote. They need guidance on when truckload makes sense, when intermodal may reduce cost, and how to manage the tradeoffs without losing control of service.

At AMB Logistic, we help shippers move with clarity, control, and confidence — whether the solution is truckload, LTL, or a smarter freight strategy built around changing market conditions.

Freight policy is not just a Washington conversation. It directly shapes how freight moves, how infrastructure is built, how safety standards evolve, and how the logistics industry prepares for the future.

The BUILD America 250 Act brings major freight implications into focus — from surface transportation investment to autonomous commercial vehicle deployment, safety standards, infrastructure modernization, and stronger supply chain resilience.

For brokers, carriers, and shippers, this is worth watching closely.

Clearer regulation, stronger freight corridors, and smarter infrastructure planning can change how capacity is managed, how operations are planned, and how the next generation of logistics networks takes shape.

At AMB Logistic, we believe the future of freight will be built on clarity, control, and confidence — supported by better infrastructure, smarter policy, and disciplined ex*****on.

Strong policy. Strong infrastructure. Stronger supply chains.
