In the lounge of this Palmer Woods home, ART | HARRISON INTERIORS wrapped the walls and custom settee in deep blue, creating the perfect intimate spot for a drink before a night out. The color also offsets the home’s stunning 100-year-old decorative plaster ceiling.

Designer Barry Harrison’s tips for working with saturated color: Consider the room from ceiling to floor. Here, a light rug and animal-print hide balance the dark wood flooring and bright ceiling, while chartreuse drapery and brass details bring the deep blue to life.

— Jennifer Baross, Bureau of Interior Design

In this original Wallace Frost home, Bureau of Interior Design embraced the rich woodwork, balancing it with timeless furnishings, natural textures and carefully placed color.

Jennifer’s advice for working with rich wood? Let it become the foundation of the palette, introduce contrast through lighter upholstery and natural linens, and layer warmth with wool, woven fabrics, leather and stone. Clean-lined furnishings allow the architecture to remain the focus, while natural light brings the wood tones beautifully to life.
