Est. 2017, RAR's mission is to center gender inclusivity and racial equity in cycling and outdoors.

One of the RAR Front Range organizers and a leader with Gravel Camp was hit by a car while racing the Tour Divide two weeks ago. Alyssa is a force of nature, a friend who loves fiercely, and the kind of leader who builds community wherever she goes. She is the epitome of a RAR community member: pouring her entire heart into making the cycling world a safer, more inclusive place for everyone.

On the morning of July 2nd, she was pushing her mind and body to the absolute limit in the final stretch of the Tour Divide, riding beautifully and holding an amazing second place among the women, days after winning the notoriously grueling Grand Loop. Alyssa was about to complete a first for both men and women: The Grand /Tour. But within 60 miles of the finish line of the Tour Divide, the unthinkable happened. At 4:30 AM, Alyssa was struck by a car going somewhere between 50 and 60 mph.

The crash has left her with severe injuries: (as of 6 pm on 07/02) 8 fractured vertebrae, 6 cracked ribs, a broken arm, internal bleeding, a brain bleed, lacerations to the kidney, spleen and liver, and a completely destroyed bike. She was airlifted from New Mexico to El Paso, Texas, where she is currently receiving emergency care.

While we are endlessly grateful that Alyssa is in good care, her life has been completely upended in an instant. The road to recovery ahead of her is going to be long and incredibly challenging.

Beyond the physical pain, Alyssa is now facing astronomical medical bills. To make things heavier, she lost her bike, which wasn’t just gear to her… it was her trusted companion on some of the most gratitude-fueled moments of her life. She had just built her dream bike, only for it to get destroyed.

Please join us in lifting Alyssa up during her darkest hour. Every single donation, no matter the size, is a powerful reminder to Alyssa that she is not riding this next difficult chapter alone. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our friend heal, rebuild, and eventually, get back on the bike.

💛 RAR’s Next Chapter 💛 After deep reflection, we’re sharing that RAR HQ is sunsetting and RAR Chapters are stepping into leadership. This decision wasn’t made lightly, but we truly believe it’s a natural and beautiful evolution of RAR and a return to our grassroots roots.

What does this mean?
✨ 20 RAR Chapters are still going strong
🚲 Chapters will continue hosting rides and events
🤝 Donations and sponsor support will go directly to Chapters (no middle-person)
🌶️ continues to support Chapters directly, thank you!
📚 RAR resources will continue to live on our website and social media
🗂️ A Chapter committee will manage new Chapter applications

Our vision for RAR’s future:

What began in 2017 as a small grassroots effort has grown into an international community across the U.S. and Australia. RAR has always been about creating space for trans, non-binary, and women adventure riders to connect, support one another, and find joy on bikes.

This isn’t the end, it’s a new beginning! We’re excited to see RAR continue to thrive through local leadership, community care, and shared rides. Thank you for being part of this journey.

Here’s to the next adventure!

💛 With love from the RAR HQ crew 💛
