Zona Technical Engineering

Earlier this week, members of the Zona Technical Engineering team had the opportunity to step into the classroom at the The University of Arizona and speak with engineering students in their thermodynamics class!

David Tyrrell and Jacob Longo shared real-world examples and discussed how the engineering fundamentals that students are learning today will translate into solving practical challenges throughout their careers.

It was a great opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world engineering and to share some of the experiences, challenges, and problem-solving that go into designing the building systems we use every day.

Thank you to the University of Arizona and Dr. Yurkiv for inviting us to spend time with the next generation of engineers. We enjoyed the conversation and the opportunity to share a little about life in the A/E/C industry!

Learning, connecting, and bringing new knowledge back to Zona Technical Engineering!

Over the past few months, six members of the Zona team have had the opportunity to take their professional development beyond the office through three industry events across the country:

⚡ Rehlko Presentations & Factory Tour | Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Alec Zimmermann and Alyson Reichstein participated in technical presentations and a factory tour, gaining firsthand insight into equipment, manufacturing processes, and industry practices.

💡 FRM LightX Lighting & Controls Showcase | Grapevine, Texas
Evan Essif and Josh Desmarais explored the latest developments in lighting, controls, products, and technologies while connecting with manufacturers and other industry professionals.

🌺 ASHRAE Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) | Honolulu, Hawaii
Jacob Longo and Trinity Brandt attended the ASHRAE CRC, connecting with industry peers, exchanging ideas, and continuing their involvement as volunteers with ASHRAE Tucson.

While each experience was different, they all shared the same goal: continuing to learn and bringing valuable knowledge, ideas, and perspectives back to Zona.

We’re proud to support opportunities that help our employees expand their technical expertise, build industry connections, and continue growing as professionals. When our people grow, the knowledge and experience they bring back strengthens our entire team and the work we provide for our clients.

This past weekend Zona Technical Engineering met up with BWS Architects and Lloyd Construction Company, Inc. for the annual Hunger Walk! September is Hunger Action month so the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona hosts an awareness event to raise money for families in need this time of year.

We’re proud of everyone who participated and helped support such an important cause. We had our largest group of participants this year! It was a great day of teamwork, community involvement, and giving back. This event truly reflected the support and care of our Tucson community and we’re so glad to be a part of it.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us and helped make a difference! ❤️

Happy Labor Day Weekend from Zona Technical Engineering!

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We’re grateful for our hardworking team and all they do throughout the year.

Wishing our employees, clients, partners, and friends a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

We’re excited to welcome two new designers to the Zona Technical Engineering team!

Please join us in welcoming Doria Lukasik-Drescher, EIT, Electrical Engineering Designer I, and Steven Paradeza, Mechanical Engineering Designer I.

We’re thrilled to have them starting with us this month and look forward to seeing them grow in their new roles, collaborate with our team, contribute to exciting projects, and bring their talents and perspectives to Zona.

Welcome to the team!

Zona Technical Engineering is celebrating an incredible group of students who brought enthusiasm, curiosity, fresh ideas, and a willingness to learn during the 2026 Summer Internship Program.

It’s time for them to head back to school. Thank you for choosing to spend your summer with us. We hope you have learned as much from the experience as we learned from having you here. Your hard work, positive attitudes, and contributions made this a summer to remember.

We hope you’ll stay in touch! Know that you’ll always be part of Team Zona! ❤️

The Zona Technical Engineering team enjoyed a fun evening together watching Spider-Man! 🍿🕷️

Last week we celebrated with an office pizza party then hurried to the theater for our showing! From the new trailers and heartfelt soundtrack to sharing our post-movie reviews, it was a great way to enjoy a summer evening together!

Taking time to connect outside the office helps build the relationships that make our team stronger. We're grateful for opportunities like these to relax, have a few laughs, and enjoy each other's company.

Here's to great teammates, great memories, and making the most of summer!

One of the highlights of our internship program is connecting our interns with our leadership team.

Last week, our five summer interns joined Zona Technical Engineering's owners for lunch, where they discussed career paths, industry experiences, project work, and what it takes to build a successful career in the A/E/C industry.

We believe mentorship is an important part of every internship experience, and we're grateful for the opportunity to invest in the next generation of engineers and industry professionals.

Thank you to our interns for the great conversation! We're excited to watch you continue to grow throughout the summer!

Happy National Intern Day! 🎉

Today we're celebrating our five incredible summer interns. Over the past few months, they've contributed to active projects, collaborated with our team, expanded their knowledge of the A/E/C industry, and developed valuable professional skills.

Thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. We're proud to have you as part of the Zona Technical Engineering Team and can't wait to see what your future holds.

Grab your gloves and boots - it is time to give back!

The Zona Technical Engineering team continued one of our favorite annual traditions by volunteering at Camp Lawton, Mt. Lemmon’s perfect getaway this past weekend.

We focused on camp restoration and safety, ensuring all scouts can enjoy their visits. One group of volunteers cleared trails by removing fallen tree branches that will be repurposed into mulch and firewood, while another maintained the Scout shelters by installing more than 100 hinge reinforcements on the bases.

We're proud to support a place that provides unforgettable outdoor experiences for so many local children. Knowing our efforts will help future campers safely enjoy Camp Lawton made the day especially rewarding. If we can better the experience of future campers and savor a taste of the great outdoors along the way…then this event was a success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and hard work!
