There’s something satisfying about putting pen to paper and making every letter intentional.

This November, Crossroads Calligraphy returns to Catalyst for a two-day introduction to Italic calligraphy, a classic, elegant style that can become a foundation for all kinds of creative lettering.

With guidance from an experienced calligrapher, you’ll learn how to hold and use your pen, work with calligraphy guidelines, practice letterforms, and adapt your writing for different projects. Put those skills to use on cards, journal pages, labels, book inscriptions, handmade gifts - or simply words worth writing beautifully.

No matter how much calligraphy experience you have, you are welcome.

You’ll leave with a new calligraphy marker, practice pages, reference examples, and techniques you can continue exploring after the workshop.

Calling all mystery lovers and aspiring writers! Join Arizona Mystery Writers for an evening celebrating the literary arts, storytelling, and the craft of mystery.

A weekend at Catalyst is a weekend spent sharing stories, movement, and your stories.

Energy hums through Catalyst as voices mingle, books open, and laughter rises. The scent of coffee, the warmth of welcome, and the promise of new connections fill the air. Sandra Butler’s reading invites honest conversation about aging, while the Senior Pride Information Fair offers resources and camaraderie for LGBTQI+ adults and allies. Whether you come for the stories or the sense of belonging, you’ll leave inspired. Experience creativity in motion—join us October 3 at Catalyst for a day of connection and celebration.

Then on Sunday, move, connect, and create—no experience needed. Dancesequences Community Open Sharing. First Sunday of every month.

What begins as a simple gathering becomes a catalyst for connection at Dancesequences Community Open Sharing. Dancesequences Inc., led by Karenne Koo, brings movement and mindfulness to the heart of Catalyst Creative Collective, inviting all ages and abilities to explore creative expression together. By centering health, well-being, and lifelong learning, this partnership demonstrates how intentional movement can build community and support Arizona’s creative economy. Everyone is welcome—no dance experience needed. Join us for Dancesequences Community Open Sharing, Sunday, October 4, 1–3pm at Catalyst in Tucson Mall.

Music education should be within reach.

Catalyst is proud to partner once more with Tucson Youth Music to provide free music lessons for young people in our community - creating space to learn, make music, and discover what creativity can unlock.

Registration for the 2026 - 27 program is now OPEN! Beginner piano lab and violin classes for ages 6 - 10 begin October 13 at Catalyst at Tucson Mall.

Tomorrow, meet the Veterans behind the art.

Painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, music and more come together in the Southern Arizona VA Creative Arts Exhibition at Catalyst Creative Collective. Join us for a community reception celebrating the Southern Arizona Veterans whose creativity fills this year’s exhibition.

For more than two decades, Art State Arizona has partnered with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, creating opportunities for Veterans’ creative work to be experienced and shared with the wider community.

The reception is free and open to the public. Come experience the work, meet the artists and celebrate creativity as a source of expression, connection and personal growth.
