About Mambo Cat Trio
Mambo Cat Trio is a vibrant instrumental ensemble that brings together the irresistible rhythms of Latin music with the raw, vintage energy of 1950s rock ’n’ roll. The group is composed of three distinctive musicians: Naïm Amor on electric guitar, Carlos Solis on Latin percussion (congas, bongos, and more), and Thøger
Lund on upright bass. Together, they create a rich and dynamic sound that blends classic genres such as mambo, bolero, and cha-cha-cha with the twang and attitude of early rock. Their music is both nostalgic and fresh—rooted in tradition yet infused with a modern, cinematic edge.

Naïm Amor’s expressive guitar lines weave melody and atmosphere, channeling surf rock textures and vintage tones, while Carlos Solis lays down intricate, driving rhythms that bring authentic Latin grooves to life. About the album:
Rapper shaun harris and Producer Grimey L are behind “BlockWriters,” a collaborative hip-hop project exploring the creative struggle of writer’s block. Through a mix of diverse rap styles and candid interview clips from Tucson musicians and artists sharing their own experiences with creative roadblocks, the album turns frustration into inspiration.

The album release party takes place on July 24th at Club Congress.

The KXCI Education team welcomed a new group of KXCI Youth Broadcasters for our Summer Youth Broadcasting Camps. To celebrate their work, Youth Broadcasters will take to the airwaves for a live freeform radio showcase on Sunday, July 19th from 3-6 pm. Their shows will also be recorded and featured during the Future of Radio broadcast on Sundays at 5 pm.
