Concetta Callahan

She spent the last several years working in various cities throughout Texas. Her most recent assignment was on the border in El Paso. Concetta will never forget the news team’s dedication to their community; particularly during hours-long live coverage of the 9th deadliest mass shooting in modern US history that took place at a local Walmart store. As an anchor, she covered multiple president Trump visits and various issues surrounding a border community such as illegal immigration, drugs, criminal activity, and construction of the border wall. Before that Concetta was a national correspondent for The Weather Channel based out of Houston. She covered the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the costliest tropical cyclone on record. Her coverage also included the Astros World Series win. Ahead of that assignment, Concetta spent a few years anchoring and reporting for ‘Good Morning San Antonio.’ She led coverage on the San Antonio missions being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Alamo being the most recognized mission globally. Her television career began on the Texas/Mexico border in Laredo. Concetta got the opportunity to cross the border and give viewers a first-hand look at Mexico's escalated violence; reporting on some of the most dangerous drug cartels in the Gulf of Mexico, Los Zetas and the Sinaloa Cartel, in Mexico's ongoing drug war. She then made the move up north to Rock Island, Illinois. Concetta was recognized as the 2010/2011 Media Advocate of the Year by the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for her hard work and dedication to the growing Hispanic Community during her time in the Midwest. From the Midwest to the Southwest, her love for the desert was born in Tucson, Arizona. Some of the most notable stories Concetta has covered have been the migration of immigrant children to Arizona, then-candidate Trump’s visit to San Antonio in 2016, President Obama's visit to Iowa City during his re-election campaign, sitting down with Governor Mitt Romney in Moline, Illinois during his campaign for president in 2010 and interviewing former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, during her campaign for president in 2008. She also covered the impact of Hurricane Ike, as evacuees were brought to Laredo by the busloads. Since Concetta loves animals, here is a memorable just- for- fun story. She was at the San Antonio zoo with Spurs point guard, Tony Parker, when he named their three lion cubs—including his namesake cub, Tony P! Concetta is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio. When she is not on the news, you can bet Concetta is planning a trip somewhere, on a run with her dog or whipping something up in the kitchen.
