Wonderful news today!

We’ve just been notified that “A Quail’s View” has been accepted into the Mountain Oyster Club’s Annual Art Show.

This one is especially meaningful. I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting in this wonderful Tucson tradition for almost 30 years, and being invited back never becomes something I take for granted.

A Quail’s View is a little bit of Arizona seen through the eyes of one of our most familiar desert characters — framed by yuccas, open country and that unmistakable Southwestern landscape.

And after my recent talk about bringing back the tiny dung beetle I used to hide in some of my paintings… sadly, this fellow is already finished, varnished and ready for the show. So no dung beetle for this one! 😂🪲

But keep watching… the beetle may be making a comeback in the next Rob MacIntosh. Realism with a twist! 👀🎨

A PIECE OF TUCSON HISTORY 🎨

Rob has always had a special affection for Tucson’s historic buildings. To him, they are more than bricks and mortar — they hold the stories of the people and generations who came before us.

The Fox Tucson Theatre is one of those treasures. Opening its doors in 1930, its glowing marquee became part of the heart of downtown Tucson — a place for movies, music, celebrations and memories.

That history is what Rob wanted to capture in this painting: the warm evening light, that magnificent old marquee, and even the little vintage car parked out front — taking us back to another time.

For Rob, painting Tucson’s historic landmarks is his own way of helping preserve a little piece of the city he loves. ❤️

Some buildings are simply too special to be forgotten.
