Tucson JCC
At the Tucson J, everyone belongs and some people join!
Only one more week until our annual SCULPT event and reception, featuring inspiring art, live music, and a delicious charcuterie board for noshing on Sunday, October 18, from 4-6pm at the Tucson J. 🧑🎨
Sculpt is our free annual celebration of sculpture at the Tucson J that serves as both the reception for an indoor sculpture exhibition and a welcome to newly installed works in the Jill Rosenzweig Memorial Sculpture Garden. 👏
This year's theme is Making Space, inspired by the idea that meaningful spaces don't just pop into existence but are built with intentionality. In Jewish tradition, the Mishkan (portable sanctuary) was built collectively, with each person contributing what they could to create a space for presence and connection.
Snacks will be curated by , and featured musicians include and .
For the evening, the garden becomes a space of exploration and connection. You can stay for ten minutes or two hours, whatever your pace may be, and become part of what makes our collective mishkan here, in our Sonoran desert. 🏜️

Shabbat Shalom! 🔯 Ma Nishma? Sharing the JOY of the J: As we begin a new Torah cycle, the creation story invites us to consider how we can bring more goodness into the world—not only through what we do, but through the communities we build and the stories we share together🤝 . At the Tucson J, we see this as an ongoing part of our work: creating a place where people come together across generations, backgrounds, and experiences to find connection, purpose, and belonging.
We began our week here at the J with a beautiful gathering in celebration of the generous contributions our Stars of Giving and Patrons of the Arts societies make to our community. Stars and Patrons joined us in the Jewish Heritage Center for delicious food and a special performance by Israeli classical singer🎶 and sopranist Mayaan Licht accompanied by pianist Russell Ronnenbaum.
Continuing with their job exploration and skills training📈 , students in the first cohort of our recently launched Pathways to Employment program learned about the "Elements of Self-Determination" with instructors Diana and Natalia. We are proud of the growth in our Disability Program Services department and grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in unique and important ways.
Fall sports 🏐 are in full swing and community members have been enjoying cooler temperatures on the tennis and pickleball courts, Men's Basketball and Co-ed Volleyball leagues, a variety of PeeWee sports offerings, youth Basketball and Volleyball clinics, Stingrays Swim Team and Masters Swim, and so much more!
All week long we have enjoyed an incredible display of artwork🎨 made by the kids in our JCare afterschool program. Art instructor Lee, curated the show with a variety of works created during the first quarter of the school year—be on the lookout for more shows throughout the year!
And last but certainly not least, on Wednesday, over 350 community members, including a number of local dignitaries and clergy, gathered to commemorate the third anniversary of October 7, a day that feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago—but has forever changed history💔 .

On Sunday, November 15th, Z3@Tucson returns to the Tucson J for its second annual conference, bringing our community together for a day of conversation, learning, and exploration across the political and religious spectrum. 🤝
The Z3 Conference brings Jews from across the political and religious spectrum together to explore Israel, Zionism, identity, and the future of Jewish life. Z3@ brings that spirit to your community, built by your JCC and shaped by the questions and voices that matter most here.
Together, we’ll ask:
👉 What can our Jewish story teach us about navigating challenging and uncertain moments?
👉 What does it mean to be an American Jew in this moment?
👉 How can we tell our Jewish story in ways that feel meaningful and relevant today?
Come ready to learn, wrestle, listen, and imagine what comes next. Register today at the link in our bio!

We remember the 1,200 people murdered on October 7, 2023, and in the violence that followed. We remember the communities devastated by the attacks, those carrying unimaginable grief, and the ways the world has forever changed.
Three years later, there are still no words for the weight of this day. But there is meaning in coming together, and in remembering names and stories, holding space for grief, and recommitting to our connection to one another.
Jewish tradition asks us to remember, and it asks us to keep showing up to care for each other, to tell stories, and to hope for a future where people can live with safety, dignity, and peace.
May those we lost never be forgotten. May their memories be a blessing. 🕯️
