Adding 2 more to the list. Both of these kids are girls. The 1 on the right ( #36) definitely belongs to Homer. The 1 on the left( #34) may as well but it does have some Spanish markings on it that could be a DeSoto kid. All are doing well.

The start to Spring kidding. Triplets! This girl was so huge she actually wattled when she walked. 1 was not cleaned off so assuming it was unalive at birth. The other 2 are doing great and so is mom.

We will be mixing up our herd genetics by adding registered Spanish goats with our commercial meat goats. We are trying something different to get a hardy, hands off herd. We have culled hard this last 18 months. I’m not gonna lie, it’s tough letting some of the non qualified go. We had 125+ head this time last year, now we are down to 27 head. We lost 65 last early and mid summer to clostridial disease. Now we are going to try and run 50 does/doelings with a couple registered Spanish bucks. 15 to 20 of those does/doelings will be registered as well. We will continue the culling process. We are also upping our paddocks by drilling preferred grains and legumes. First up will be sun h**p, lespedeza and one other legume. We haven’t decided. We have planted rye and such in the fall the last 2 years. Last year we got nothing. The year before we got a good stand but didn’t know what we were doing and most of it fell to the the ground. We have been in a drought since last Spring so we’re praying for better weather this year. our goals are in progress. What’s your Spring goals looking like?

Happy Valentine Day ❤️
Before Valentine’s Day Was Ruined by Chocolate… It Involved Goats.
If you think Valentine’s Day is all about heart-shaped candy and overpriced chocolate, the ancient Romans might raise an eyebrow and hand you a goat. 🤨
Mid February used to be a festival called Lupercalia (February 13–15). It was a fertility celebration. 😍
And by “celebration,” they meant:
• Goats were sacrificed
• The meat was eaten in a feast
• The hides were cut into strips
• Young men ran around lightly swatting women with goat hide for fertility blessings
Nothing says romance like goats and spanking.😱
Goats were symbols of virility and strength. Meat wasn’t just food, it represented fertility, vitality, and masculinity. 💪
Before candy companies took over, February was about meat and reproduction, not sugar highs.
Even beyond Rome, in medieval and early modern Europe, red meat was considered strengthening and “passion supporting.” ❤️
Winter was traditional slaughter season, and by February, families were feasting on preserved meats, roasts, and game. A romantic dinner in the 1800s was far more likely to feature roast beef than a molten lava cake.
Chocolate didn’t become the centerpiece of Valentine’s Day until the late 19th century, conveniently when industrial sugar production exploded and candy companies discovered marketing.
So historically speaking, if you’re grilling a ribeye instead of buying a heart-shaped box of seed oil truffles…You’re actually closer to the original tradition.
This Valentine’s Day:
• Skip the sugar.
• Honor the goat.
• Grill the steak.
• Swatting is optional.😉
What’s on your plate tonight? 😁
Jack and Jill always act silly when we are in the Barnyard. Then Pheonix has to photo bomb them 😂

Charmels kiddos are tucked in. She is a great mother. Brother and sister are "hanging in the hay" and keeping warm.
We finally got to celebrate our daughters birthday last night along with her husband's birthday. Hers was January 21 and his is today.

Read that again! I start my day’s with Jesus. I end with Jesus. There is also a lot of Jesus in between because I can’t do life without Him.
