Last week was a significant one for the Gatesway Foundation and SOAR Partners teams. It was a privilege to host Mayor Monroe Nichols and his staff at Gatesway to discuss the critical work being done in our community.

We had the opportunity to share the innovative and deeply needed work underway to address homelessness among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across Tulsa and surrounding communities. This population is often overlooked in traditional housing and support systems, yet requires thoughtful, tailored solutions that integrate housing, services, and community.

What stood out most was the shared commitment to collaboration—bringing together public leadership, nonprofit innovation, and community partners to create sustainable pathways to stability and belonging.

Grateful for Mayor Nichols’ leadership and the City’s engagement on this issue. We’re excited about what’s ahead and the continued momentum to ensure every individual has access to safe, supportive housing.

This week, we spent time with the CARES Club at Blessings to Share Foundation facilitating a conversation on independent living for adults with I/DD not covered by Medicaid.

Through a focus group of members and champions, we explored what support, community, and independence truly look like. Their insights are helping shape more inclusive housing and service solutions.

We had the privilege of spending time this week with the Board of Directors at She Brews Coffee & Transition Program for a strategic planning session—and what an inspiring time it was.

She Brews is doing truly transformative work, walking alongside women transitioning out of incarceration with safe housing, employment, mentorship, and community support. Through second chances (and really great coffee), they are restoring families and changing lives every day.

We’re grateful to partner in this important work and excited for what’s ahead.

What an inspiring visit!

Last week, SOAR Partners’ Greg Arend and Brooklyn Cadwallader traveled to Illinois to visit Little City, touring their 51-acre campus and residential school and learning more about their incredible work serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Little City offers a broad spectrum of services — including education, residential support, employment programs, and community services — all designed to help individuals thrive and live fulfilling lives.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with leaders like Rich Bobby and Kelly Evans and continue working together to address the challenges facing I/DD providers across the country.
