Dr. Jessica Chandler's dare sounds simple: she wanted to practice gynecology only. No delivering babies.

Outside medicine, that may not sound like a big deal.

Inside medicine, it was.

OB-GYNs are trained to do both. You deliver babies. You take call. You build your life around the reality that babies come when they come.

Jessica watched surgeons she admired schedule inductions the night before a surgery day, hoping they could slip away to deliver a baby between operations.

Most doctors who stop delivering babies make that switch 20 or 25 years in, close to retirement.

Jessica knew in her second year of residency. She loved surgery. She loved gynecology. She didn't want to build her life around labor and delivery.

But she wasn't seeing anyone do what she wanted to do.

So she asked herself:

"Why do I have to wait 20 years to do the thing that I enjoy?"

Her dare wasn't loud or reckless. It was deliberate.

She finished her OB-GYN residency. She went after a gynecologic surgery fellowship. She made a deal with her program director to meet her obstetrics requirements. Then she built a practice around the work she actually wanted to do.

The "normal" path isn't wrong.

It just may not be yours.

What's one "normal" path you followed, even if it didn’t feel right, because it was expected?

She had the salary.
The benefits.
The retirement plan.

Everything that looks secure on paper.

But her mom was getting older. Her grandmother was 93. And Dr. Jessica Chandler was getting home to see them twice a year.

She realized that if she stayed, all she'd have when they were gone was "a bunch of receipts" for things she'd paid for.

So she walked away.

You can always make more money. You can't make more time.

Sometimes the dare isn't choosing more money. It's choosing the time you can't get back.

I’m learning that being responsible with money isn’t just about having help in place.

It is also about staying close enough to understand what’s happening.

Delegating is wise. But if I stop asking questions, or stop paying attention, it becomes abdication.

The shift doesn’t have to be complicated.

It starts with me being engaged, asking questions.

Questions that help me understand what I own, why I own it, what risks I’m taking, and whether the decision supports the life I am building.

That’s why I created 3 Questions Every Woman Should Ask Herself Before She Invests.

It is a simple guide to help you pause, think clearly, and stay connected to your financial decisions.

Comment QUESTIONS. I’ll send it to you.

Somebody once told you that you couldn’t.

But what did you do anyway?

That is the heart of Women Who Dare, a new Wealth B-Hers series about women who moved forward even when the path was uncertain. And I’m excited to share the conversations with you.

Follow along as we share the real-life stories and lessons behind the women who dared anyway.

First episode drops tomorrow.

You don’t always need to feel ready.

Sometimes you just need to be willing to move.

𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗲 is coming soon, and we’re starting with the stories behind the brave decisions women made 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 the next level appeared.

Something new is coming to Wealth B-Hers.

We’re starting a new series called Women Who Dare.

This series is about the women who chose to move even when the path was uncertain.

Women who dared to ask for more.

Women who dared to start over.

Women who dared to build differently.

Women who dared to trust their voice, their vision, and their next step, even when fear, responsibility, or outside expectations made it difficult.

Because the next level doesn’t come from having all the answers.

It begins with one decision:

𝗬𝗲𝘀, 𝗜 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗲.

In this series, we're asking women what they dared to do, what challenged them, and what changed because they were willing to take that step.

The first episode is coming soon.

Stay tuned for 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗲 on 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗕-𝗛𝗲𝗿𝘀.

There is a difference between getting help and disappearing.

Getting help is wise.

You may have an advisor, accountant, or professional who understands money movement better than you do.

That’s not the problem.

The problem is when you stop asking questions because someone else “has it handled.”

It feels responsible from the outside.

The accounts exist. The meetings happen. The documents get signed. The plan appears to be moving.

But if you don't understand what you own, why it is set up that way, what it costs, or what it is supposed to do for your life, you are more disconnected than you may realize.

The first step back into the conversation is not making a big financial move.

It’s asking questions until you understand, until you can explain it to someone else.

That is why I created 3 Questions Every Woman Should Ask Herself Before She Invests.

It is a simple guide to help you pause, think more clearly, and stay connected to your financial decisions.

Comment QUESTIONS and I’ll send it to you.

According to Merriam-Webster, abdication means abandoning or discarding a right, responsibility, or position of power.

I’ve been guilty of this. 🙋

Not because I didn’t care or wasn’t capable.

But because it felt easier to let someone else handle the part I didn’t want to think about.

Hiring expertise is smart.

A good advisor, partner, accountant, or financial professional can help you make better decisions.

But when getting help turns into disappearing from the conversation, that’s no longer delegation.

I hear this often.

A woman has assets:
✅ She signs the checks.
✅ She has investments.
✅ She is building something real.

But when asked about her portfolio, she says:

“My guy handles that.”

And because it looks polished, professional, and responsible, nobody calls it what it really is.
Abdication.

You don’t have to manage everything yourself.

But you do deserve to understand what is happening with your money.

Many women are working hard, earning well, and doing what they were told would create security.

But at some point, the question gets deeper than income.

It becomes:

➡️ What am I building with this?

Not just for later, not for retirement.

Not just for the people who may inherit something one day.

But for the life I am living now, the people I love, and the impact I want to have.

Legacy is not only about leaving assets.

It’s also about creating choices while you are here.

✅ The choice to care for family.
✅ The choice to do work that fulfills you.
✅ The choice to stop building from pressure.
✅ The choice to use money as a tool for freedom, service, and alignment.

That kind of legacy does not happen by accident.

It starts when you ask:
What do I want my money to stand for?

That is why I created How to Create Wealth That Outlives You.

It is a free resource to help you reflect on wealth, purpose, and the kind of impact you want to build with more intention.

Comment LEGACY and I’ll send it to you.

Delegating is smart.

Disappearing from the conversation is where it gets risky.

This episode is a reflection of my talk with Steele on The Client a $1.4 Billion Advisor Won't Take.

Having help is never the problem, but not understanding what’s being done, why it’s being done, and how to keep moving if that person is suddenly unavailable is.

You can delegate the ex*****on.

You cannot delegate the understanding.
