Building confident cyclists and great Tulsans through community engagement. Our kid-centered program started with a few like-minded people. Mike."

People who were passionate and understood the power of bicycles. In 2008, Jason Whorton began building and giving kids free bikes through his 501(c)3 non-profit Humble Sons Bike Company. Whorton's initial efforts consisted of giving away 22 bikes. He has since overseen the distribution of over 17,000 bicycles. His program was growing at an exponential rate. We had a wonderful time with ultracyclist Meaghan Hackinen and we think everyone there truly felt honored to be able to spend a few hours with such an accomplished cyclist. Meaghan was first female in the 2026 Tour Divide and set the Fastest Known Time in the process. Those are just a couple of her accolades, and she’s already on to her next adventures. You can learn more about her at www.meaghanhackinen.com and if you’d like to make a contribution to her adventures, we’ve posted a link to her “Buy me a Coffee” page in the comments. Thanks to Tulsa Bicycle Club for setting up the visit and City Cycles for the support!

It’s Bike Club Rally week!!!
This Wednesday, May 13th, over 500 Bike Club students will ride their bikes from Hardesty National BMX stadium in downtown Tulsa to Gathering Place using city streets and the River Parks east bank trail. If you want to cheer on these young riders they’ll be rolling westbound on Archer then southbound on Denver just after 11:00am! Expect some delays during this timeframe as intersections are temporarily blocked for safe passage of the riders, but our friends at Tulsa Police Department do an incredible job of keeping things flowing! Last Friday a crew of incredible volunteers built 190 bikes, greatly exceeding our expectations for the day! If you want to get in on the action, you’re in luck because we have about 130 more bikes to build this Friday, May 8th starting at 10:00 AM at Bike Club HQ - 5737 S. Union Ave.
We’ll go until 4:00 PM if we need to, but we expect to wrap up before then. No tools or experience required!

Spring in Bike Club means ADVENTURE! After building up our skills and confidence by completing Bike Club lessons, riding on campus and in our school’s neighborhoods, we venture out to explore, learn, exercise, and have FUN in our communities. These kinds of rides and memories are happening every day across the district at 39 Bike Club schools.
