Meet Finnegan AKA Finn 🤎

⏰ Finn needs a foster or adopter by Friday, August 7❗️

📍Currently in Indiana.
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Transportation is available for fosters within our coverage area.

Finn has come a long way since arriving in MARR’s care, and now he’s looking for the right person to help him take the next step.

After being rescued, Finn has been receiving treatment for heartworm disease while recovering in foster care. More recently, he was diagnosed with Masticatory Muscle Myositis (MMM)- a rare, immune-mediated disease that affects the chewing muscles and can be painful. While MMM is not curable, his veterinary team is working to help manage his comfort. This condition likely causes discomfort and may be contributing to some of the behaviors he’s recently shown. He’ll need a person or family that’s committed to continuing his medical care and working closely with their veterinarian.

Because of the discomfort he’s been experiencing, Finn has recently shown signs that he’s uncomfortable with certain types of handling, especially around his face and head. We believe pain has played a significant role, and finding the right environment to continue his care is incredibly important.

To help set Finn up for success, he is looking for a home where he can be the only dog. He also needs a home with no cats and no small children. He’ll do best with someone who understands large breeds, will respect his boundaries, and is committed to helping him continue healing.

Despite everything he’s been through, Finn deserves the chance to heal in a home where his medical needs can be managed with patience, consistency, and compassion. We’re hopeful that, with continued treatment and the right person by his side, Finn has a bright future ahead.

Piper needs a foster home 🥹💖

She is currently located in Junction City, KS. Transport is provided for Fosters within MARR’s coverage area(details in post). 📍

Piper is a happy, passive and gentle lap dog. She is calm, more on the serious side, reserved, well-mannered, not mouthy, loves to be loved on, very sweet, loyal, and very chill. She typically is not moved by people coming into the home. She does react to Cats, squirrels and rabbits while leashed on her walks. She will resource guard toys with some animals.
Piper will need someone to help her continue to lose weight. Piper is an old soul who wants to just hang out and not burn calories. She does not really play with toys and she is fine with other dogs, men, women and kids who are used to larger dogs. Her current foster has other dogs in the home and she is fine with everyone. She does let out the normal rumble every now and again but no activity behind it. She knows sit and lay down but that is probably the extent of her training. She’s a great older female rottie who just wants to find her person to spend the rest of her days with.🤗

It’s National Dog Photography Day! 📸

We want to see your favorite photos of your pups! Whether they’re striking a pose, making a goofy face, splashing in the water, or caught in the middle of zoomies, drop your best photos in the comments! 🤎

We’ll kick things off with one of our favorite supermodels… Bear Bear! 📷✨

Bear Bear is an absolute superstar when the camera comes out. Whether he’s striking a pose, flashing that handsome Rottie smile, lounging in his kiddie pool, or chasing the hose, this big guy knows exactly how to steal the spotlight. 😍

At just 3 years old and 110 pounds, Bear Bear is a BIG, strong, lovable goofball with an even bigger personality. He loves his people, is incredibly food and ball motivated, enjoys training, and is happiest when he’s hanging out with his humans. He’s always up for a game of fetch but is just as content entertaining himself with a toy while you relax nearby.

One of Bear Bear’s biggest loves? WATER! Give him a hose, kiddie pool, creek, or any place to splash around, and you’ve got one happy pup.

Bear Bear has been working hard with a professional trainer and has made incredible progress. He thrives with structure, consistency, and positive guidance, and he’ll reward you with endless loyalty, laughs, and love. Because of his size and strength, he’ll do best with someone comfortable handling a large breed and committed to helping him continue to succeed!

If you’re looking for a fun, goofy best friend with a heart as big as he is, Bear Bear could be your perfect match.

Bear Bear is currently located near Des Moines, Iowa. MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Transportation is available for adopters within our coverage area.

🐾 Adopt Rush! 🖤

📍 Rush is currently being fostered in Indiana, but MidAmerica Rottweiler Rescue (MARR) can arrange transport for approved adopters within our coverage area: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Rush is a 2-year-old deaf (with some partial hearing) boy who’s ready to find the forever family he deserves. Despite having several homes early in life, he’s proven to be an affectionate, resilient, and incredibly loving companion.

✨ Rush’s highlights:

* 🐶 Dog-friendly and loves having canine friends
* ❤️ Sweet, playful, and affectionate
* 🏡 House-trained with great indoor manners
* 🚗 Rides well in the car and does great in public
* 🤟 Knows hand signals for sit, stay, come, down, heel, and more
* 🦴 Loves tug-of-war, toys, and playtime

Rush has some ongoing discomfort in his front left leg, so he’d prefer playtime over long walks. He’s also successfully overcome past anxiety and is now thriving without medication.

His ideal home includes another friendly dog, a consistent routine, and a family willing to continue communicating with him using visual cues. In return, you’ll get a loyal, smart, and endlessly loving best friend.

🌎 MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, lowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
🚗 Transportation is available for adoptions within our coverage area.

Meet William! 🤎

William is a 3-year-old, 62-pound sweetheart who's basically one big teddy bear wrapped up in a Rottie body. He's calm, happy, affectionate, and always ready to soak up a few extra pets.

One of William's favorite ways to say hello is with a gentle hug. He loves people, walks nicely on a leash, and is the kind of dog that's just happy to be wherever you are. Whether it's going for a walk, hanging out on the couch, or taking an afternoon nap, William is all in.

He's great with other dogs and has done well meeting cats. Even with all the noise and chaos of the shelter, William stays calm, happily greeting everyone he meets, and shows what an easygoing, well-mannered boy he is!

Sadly, William tested positive for heartworms. But please don't let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. Once his treatment plan is completed, William will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!

❤️ Looking to ADOPT?
William is available for adoption through Kansas City Kansas Animal Services, and we'd absolutely love to see him leave the shelter for a home of his own. If you're interested in making him part of your family, please visit his Petfinder page to learn more and contact the shelter:

🤎 Can't adopt but can FOSTER?
William is also available to foster through MARR while he completes his heartworm treatment. Giving him a temporary home would make a huge difference in his recovery.
See William here: https://www.adoptarott.org/dogs-needing-foster/
If you're interested in fostering William, please apply to foster through MARR here: https://adoptarott.org/foster_application.html

We know there's a family out there for this sweet boy. Let's help William get the happy ending he deserves. 🤎

This handsome boy has a medium activity level, is happy, eager to please, and easy to train. He’s great on a leash, checks in with his handler for guidance, and already knows how to be a well-mannered companion.

🐻 Teddy Bear Needs a Foster 🐻

Not to be confused with Bear Bear (who is also still looking for his forever home!)🤎

Teddy Bear is an 8-year-old, 113-pound boy with a big heart, a goofy personality, and a love for people. He can be a little reserved when meeting someone new, but a few treats and a little patience are all it takes before he’s leaning in for affection and following you around. He loves car rides, swimming, learning new things, and being with his people.

Teddy Bear attended a professional training program as a puppy and learned a variety of cues. He’s incredibly intelligent, eager to please, and enjoys having a job to do. While he could use a refresher, he’s the kind of dog who catches on quickly!

One of Teddy Bear’s quirks is that he really doesn’t like barriers. Crates, kennels, baby gates, or even being inside the car while watching the world go by can make him excited and vocal. Once that barrier is removed, he’s perfectly happy again. Because of this, you’ll want to be mindful when opening doors- Teddy Bear is likely to beat you outside and head straight for the car, where he’ll proudly wait for his next adventure!

Teddy Bear has some resource guarding around high-value items, such as food and special toys. The good news is that it’s very manageable with a few simple routines. Feeding him separately and giving high-value treats in his own space helps him succeed. He has lived with another large dog and they got along well, we are unsure how he would do with cats.

Your passenger seat is empty… and Teddy Bear already called dibs. 🚗🤎

Find more information about Teddy Bear here: adoptarott.org/dogs-needing-foster/

MARR requires a minimum 30-day foster period before adoption. This allows dogs time to decompress and helps MARR better understand their needs. A foster-to-adopt option is available. The foster family has the first option to adopt after 30 days 🤎

If you are an APPROVED MARR Foster, please email us at [email protected]
You can also apply to Foster at adoptarott.org/Foster
