We, the staff of Restore Hope, are profoundly saddened and grieving at the earthly loss of two of our staunchest supporters. Dick and Kay Garwood served for many years in a variety of capacities - they were volunteers during Thanksgiving Basket distribution, Dick served on our board for many years, and it was Kay’s cheerful voice many heard as she volunteered at the front desk answering the phone. Dick also served as one of the supervisors for the remodel of our current building on Charles Page. He personally hung a lot of sheet rock!
Dick designed and made the beautiful stained glass hanging in our chapel. It will always be a reminder of their generosity and lasting legacy.
Mostly we will miss their dropping in to say hello. Kay always had the most beautiful smile, and Dick's love for his bride was evident by the glint in his eyes as he looked at her. They would walk the whole building saying hello to everyone who was here.
We know they were people of faith and have now seen Jesus. We know too, that we will see them again, but it still hurts our hearts. We hold their family with love and prayers for peace. We will miss them and will honor them in our work every day because they wholeheartedly believed in our mission.

Do you have World Cup Fever?! What a joy these last three weeks have been as people from around the world embrace each other and other cultures. The Tartan Army from Scotland; The Orange Army from the Netherlands; The Viking Row from Norway. Each in their own way bringing joy to people around the globe.
Isn't that how it should be with or without the World Cup taking place? People loving and enjoying people. After all, that is how the song goes, you know... the one we learned in Sunday School or VBS - "Jesus loves the little children; All the children of the world. Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world".
And that's what we do right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We love HIS children through providing some fresh food through the food pantry, or by helping a family going through crisis with their rent payment or providing resources to our partners across Tulsa that can help a family in a different way than we can. You too, can provide this same love by cheering them on. And let's keep this fandom spirit going long after a new champion is crowned.
