Best of all, proceeds from this event will help build the Q***rLit Collective Library at Elote—creating a permanent home for 2SLGBTQIA+ literature in our community.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a reminder of how one person’s generosity can spark a lifetime of possibility. Since 1995, this program has gifted over 300 million books to children around the world—creating spaces for imagination, curiosity, and dreams to take flight. Every book mailed is a step toward a future where every child knows they matter, every story matters, and every voice deserves to be heard.

Dolly’s impact didn’t stop there. She used her wealth, her voice, and her platform to uplift communities everywhere—whether through disaster relief, medical research, or her unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community. She was more than a legend; she was a role model who showed us all how to lead with heart, compassion, and an unshakable belief in the power of lifting others up. The expectation to “come out of the closet” assumes you’ve put someone in one to begin with—by assuming everyone is straight until told otherwise.

Q***r History/Activism That Inspires Me:
Frida Kahlo’s work and life show the beautiful intersection of art and activism. My most memorable moments come from photographing protests. (Also, Lady Gaga’s 2011 quote: “Maybe I do. Would it be so terrible? Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a p***s? My fans don’t care and neither do I.”)
