Ever had mac and cheese, French fries, or ice cream? You can thank James Hemings, the first American trained as a master chef, who was also enslaved by Thomas Jefferson. The documentary follows Chef Ashbell McElveen's mission to finally give America's founding foodie the recognition he deserves.

Jim Thompson, the Anadarko-born "Dimestore Dostoevsky," would have turned 120 this Sunday, and we're marking the occasion with Oak Tree Books, the Tulsa Artist Fellowship, and the McFarlin Tower Guild.

We'll screen The Killing (1956), the razor-sharp heist noir Thompson co-wrote with Stanley Kubrick, followed by a panel with three award-winning authors: film noir scholar Megan Abbott, Lou Berney of FX's The Lowdown, and Thompson biographer Robert Polito.

Come early for a lobby pop-up with books from our guests, free Criterion Kubrick postcards while they last, and a chance to win a gift bag with a Criterion Blu-ray of The Killing, the new Library of America Thompson collection, and more. 🎁

Tickets are on sale now for this Sun 9/27 at 7pm: https://loom.ly/OFRJ1TE

Get ready to serve, because Saturday night at Twisted Arts Film Fest is all about ballroom. 💃

10s Across the Borders follows three trailblazing ballroom performers from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand as they share their journeys through Southeast Asia's voguing scene. It's gorgeous to look at, the performances are electric, and it's a powerful look at how q***r community and self-expression travel and transform across cultures.

It screens with the short film Same Time Next Year? from Anushay Sheikh. ✨ All tickets are pay what you can. https://loom.ly/k7rzLPs

🍿🎬 What a night in Tulsa! I was honored to attend the Oklahoma Premiere of Route 66: The Main Street of America with filmmaker John Paget, and the room was full of the people who keep the Mother Road’s story alive.

It was a treat to be there with Michael Wallis, Rhys Martin, and Ken Busby. Watch the video to hear what folks had to say about the film. The love for Route 66 was easy to see.

Congratulations to John Paget on a film that honors the road and the people along it. They’re headed all the way to LA on Route 66 so get a ticket and go see it!

Sat 9/26, 3pm matinee at Twisted Arts Film Fest is all about first love. 💘

Black Burns Fast follows Luthando, a scholarship student at an elite all-girls boarding school, whose carefully planned future goes sideways when she falls hard for a charismatic new classmate. Director Sandulela Asanda's debut brings Luthando's comic book inner world to life on screen, and the result is sweet, funny, and so easy to see yourself in.

It screens with the short film Scissors from Hannah Alline. ✂️ All tickets are pay what you can. https://loom.ly/6LtvvWM
