Greetings everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. One of the areas we help with is the persecuted and those in need. In Nigeria there are two seasons. Rainy season, and the dry season. Nigerians plant this time of year to grow their crops for the upcoming year so they will have something to eat. One of the problems is that the land there never has a time to recover, meaning that many nutrients that are in the soil are never replenished. This causes a problem because of the lack of nutrients, the plants don't grow like they should. This is where fertilizer come in. The problem is that one bag of fertilizer costs almost 30.00 a bag. In their culture this is an extremely costly item. Some salaries per month is the same as a bag of fertilizer. So as you see it can be difficult for them to grow their crops without fertilizer, and the cost of it is extremely high for them. I am trying to raise funds for them to purchase fertilizer. This is another water project we have. We distribute water filter that are able to filter out many bad things which helps with the health of the families. We use sawyer water filters which are attached to a bucket thus allowing families to keep them in their homes.

Many communities benefit from hand dug wells because there isn't any access to water. These are just what they sound like. We hire people to dig the wells for the communities so that they will have access to water that they didn't have before.

Greeetings everyone. My name is Brent Hail, and I am the CEO of throwing seeds. Thank you for the interest in our page. For the past ten years I have been traveling to Nigeria ministering in different ways. We have many different ways we are reaching out to those in need in Nigeria. We help distribute food to those who have been effected by the violence, and we have a clean water initiative that targets clean drinking water through drilling boreholes. Many there do not have any accessibility to water at all, so we also provide hand dug wells to those communities. We also provide, when possible, filtered water using sawyer water filters. We provide medical outreaches to different areas that need it. Another area we are involved in is ministering to a group we will call the warrior people. They are part of the second largest religious group in that country. Through our cattle outreach ministry, we are showing the love of Jesus to a group that we are focusing on. Through that ministry we are able to hand out audio bibles, a great way of sharing Gods love to the warrior people in their own language. We’re excited to announce the finalists in the Inspired By Their Stories Award, a new award created to recognize nonprofit organizations whose work is changing lives and restoring dignity for society’s most vulnerable.

We'd like to thank the hundreds of nonprofits who shared their stories with us. After much deliberation, we’re proud to present one of the five finalists in the Care for Others category, Throwing Seeds in Nigeria.

This organization supports ministries in Nigeria that care for the vulnerable and share God’s love. Through orphan care centers, schooling, mentorship, and job placement, Throwing Seeds helps children heal from trauma and rebuild meaningful, stable lives within their communities.

Each day this week, we’ll be revealing our finalists in one of our four categories:
• Care for Others
• Education
• Hunger & Thirst
• Shelter

From the finalists in each category, one organization will be selected as the category winner. Among the four category winners, one overall recipient will be named the Inspired By Their Stories Award Winner, receiving a $25,000 charitable donation. The remaining three category winners will each receive a $5,000 donation.
