Urban Solace

Moment of Solace: Did you know that prolonged stress keeps your body in a low-grade ‘fight or flight’ state? Your shoulders creep up, your jaw locks, and your breathing becomes shallow. You can actively interrupt this cycle right now. Take a look at the Milliken State Park lighthouse shifting its reflection on the water. As the camera pans up to reveal the sunset illuminating the clouds over the Detroit River, let your awareness expand with it. Drop your shoulders away from your ears. Unclench your jaw and let your tongue rest away from the roof of your mouth. Inhale deeply through your nose, expanding your belly. Exhale slowly, letting go of the tension you’ve been holding. Micro-breaks like this are not a luxury; they are essential maintenance for your brain and nervous system. So, throughout your day, remember to pause, check in with yourself, and look around. The world can wait for ten seconds. Video & Photo Credit: @urbanyogachic #mindfulness #momentofsolace #urbansolace #urbansolacedetroit #detroit

There is nothing more beautiful (and chic) than a city that takes care of its own.  True wellness isn’t about exclusive clubs or expensive aesthetics; it’s about showing up, breathing together, and grounding ourselves right where we are.  For US, that means curating peaceful experiences that allow our yoga friends to gather and practice along the riverfront all summer long. No membership required. Just you, your mat, and your community. Join US for three free, weekly mindful movement sessions through the end of September, or snag a spot at our final Summer 2026 Moonlight event brought to you by our super cool partners at the @detroitriverfront and sponsored by @priorityhealth.  Tag a friend that you’d like to bring with you. We’ve been thinking a lot lately about how interconnected our happiness really is. Through our programming, partnerships, and community-building initiatives we’re reminded (everyday) that true joy is a gift that multiplies the moment you pass it on to someone else. Today, let’s be intentional about scattering love, laughter, and light wherever we go. You never know who might need it most. P.S. Research indicates that green and blue spaces can be incredibly calming, and we definitely feel that magic during our weekly programming. Whether it’s basking in a cool breeze off the water while being kissed by the sun. Or listening to the birds while watching the clouds roll by … practicing mindfulness outdoors can help wash away the stress of a busy day. But don’t just take our word for it. Come see for yourself. Did you know that Urban Solace’s founder @urbanyogachic and Detroit share a birthday? Yep, turns out the Motor City is a Leo too. And honestly… it shows. Loyal to the core. Creative without apology. Resilient in a way that makes you stop and stare. Detroit has that bold Leo heart; the kind that doesn’t just beat, it roars. They both have a flair for the dramatic (cue skyline sunsets and soulful soundtracks), a deep love for community-building, and an unstoppable drive to rise, rebuild, and reinvent. So here’s to the fire signs who sparkle even after the storm. To the ones who lead with passion, hustle with pride, and never forget where they came from. Big mane energy all around. A Message from Dr. Renaud: Today, I get to celebrate my “born day” alongside the city that gave me my “why.” Being a part of this city has taught me everything I know about grit, resilience, and genuine heart. To everyone who has supported Urban Solace, cheered on my wild ideas, and shared space with me (in studio, online, and on the riverfront) … thank you. You have made this journey incredibly meaningful. Sharing a birthday with Detroit is a badge of honor I hold dear. So, here’s to another year of purpose, passion, and 313 pride. Sincerely, Michelle #leoseason #detroitborn #urbansolace #bigmaneenergy
