Project Linus, Solano County Chapter

As you are all aware, I have been having email problems with the service I was using. Hopefully I will be able to get email sent once again via our gmail account.

Lets give this a try…..

Going back to last month at our meeting, we donated 379 blankets. This brings our quarterly total donated (July 1 through September 30) to 1,090 blankets.
Thank you all for the many blankets you made over the summer! I know it isn’t easy to work on blankets when it is so warm, so thank you!

Our next meeting is coming up. We will meet again on October 11, 2026. I have already had calls from hospitals which are out of blankets. We will need medium and large
blankets; but let’s not forget the babies we give to also!

DATE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2026
TIME: 12:45 - 4:00 pm
LOCATION: Unity of the West Spiritual Center
350 North Orchard Ave
Vacaville, CA. 95688

Please bring:

The blankets you have ready to donate
Sewing needles and white thread to help sew labels
Any fabric or yarn you want to clear out of. Your stash — give your fellow Blanketeers a chance to enjoy it.
A snack to share — I’ll bring the waters
Your friends, of course, the more the merrier!

Please check your email and let me know if you received something from me in the last few minutes. Fingers crossed

Hope you have a great weekend —please let me know if you will be attending our October meeting.

Today is the day! The first day you can register for the Project Linus knit and crochet along. Remember to mention the Solano County California chapter, and Me Laura Proctor as the coordinator. This way your $20 registration fee will be a fundraiser for our local chapter. Thank you so much. Remember, tell your friends!

Tomorrow is the day, for just $20. You get a pattern for a beautiful blanket. You can do it for crochet or knitting. Go ahead and share with your friends, the more the merrier!
I would appreciate it if you would mention the Solano County, California chapter and Me, Laura Proctor, as the coordinator. If you do so your $20 registration fee will be a donation for our chapter. Thank you so much.

We had a busy meeting on Sunday, September 13th. While there were fewer of our blanketeers on hand, we did get a good amount of blankets.
So far this month, we have donated 379 blankets to children throughout Solano County.

Some of our locations didn't get as many blankets as requested, but we were able to make sure each group in need got some to get them through the month.

Next month I am hoping to reach 500 blankets. Can you help?

Tomorrow is the day! Will you be joining us at our meeting?

Blanketeers, I am having email issues and cannot send the invitation to our meeting as I usually do. This coming Sunday is our next meeting -- tell your friends!

We are adding a new location so we will need baby/toddler blankets. Our emergency rooms need blankets, so we need medium and larger blankets too!

I have some quilting fabric which was donated, as well as fleece which I will bring. And I have news about the online supplier, Fleece Queen.com.
We may need help with deliveries, so please let me know at the meeting if you can deliver blankets during the week after our meeting.

Please respond to let me know if you will be coming to the meeting. See you Sunday!

Best Regards,
Laura

Happy Labor Day to all the hard working folks in our Country. Whether you are employed, or a volunteer, you are all appreciated!

Since our last meeting, we have added another group to our list of recipients. The North Bay Regional Center of Napa and Solano, specifically the Early Start unit. We will need more baby blankets. Fleece with a crocheted edge, quilts, flannel blankets and crocheted baby blankets with a closed stitch would be greatly appreciated. We do not use the fringe fleece type of blanket for babies. Baby blankets should be no smaller than 30” x 30”. They can be up to 36”x 42” in size.
Thank you for your help!

It's a good thing we didn't take the month of August off. Our meeting was another busy one with 48 Blanketeres on hand.We had Blanketeers of all ages attending and helping. It seemed to be a popular place for students this month, there were 9 kids of all ages helping unload cars, set up tables, collect blankets and generally pitch in where needed. I appreciated seeing new Blanketeers joining our fun as well!

So far this month we are delivering 313 blankets. With school now back in session, I expect that we will once again need blankets to deliver to the various school districts in Solano County. And of course, if we learn of more children in need of their own special blankets, I will be reaching out.

If you are looking for a source of fleece and fabric and yarn, heads up! There is a garage sale taking place on Saturday August 15th in Martinez. It begins at 10:00 am, and ends around 2:00, or before if everything sells. Donna is holding the sale at 342 Glacier Drive, Martinez CA. This is the 2nd sale held to clear out her mother's craft stash. Pieces of fleece, minimum of 2 yards in length or longer, go for $6 a piece. In addition to the fleece and fabric sale this Saturday, Donna is including 100 plus bins of yarn in the sale. She has it well organized by color and maker, and is selling it at the ridiculously low price of $1.00 per skein. Yes, $1 per skein! Maybe some of you would want to carpool together!

Thanks to all who came to our meeting, or made blankets and dropped them off. We appreciate you all! You are Making a Difference, One Blanket at a Time!

Time for our August meeting tomorrow, Sunday, August 9th. Will you be there?
