We were invited to join the project and provide accurate as-built documentation to help make that process as smooth as possible. 📐

This project started as four separate spaces in a prime location, and is now being transformed into one completely new space, while preserving the existing façades.

What makes this one even more special is our long-term client, who has been working with us on multiple properties along the same street. Over the years, it feels like we’ve been slowly collecting the puzzle pieces of an entire San Francisco block. Pretty amazing, right?

We’re very grateful for this ongoing partnership and excited to keep adding more pieces to the map.
At this pace, maybe one day we’ll have the whole street. 😄

Wrong Level of Development costs you twice

The model looked detailed enough in the meeting. The shop still could not cut from it.

That is usually an accuracy mismatch. The Level of Development (LOD) matched one decision and got used for another.

Layout needs massing and clear existing conditions. Clash coordination needs routes, clearances, and hang logic installers can trust. Shop and prefabrication need fabrication-grade geometry, connections, and dimensions the shop can cut and the crew can hang once.

When a coordination model is asked to carry a fabrication ask, schedules slip. Spools get redrawn. Prefabrication that was supposed to drop in gets reworked on a lift. Money burns on both ends: modeling that was never scoped, and field time that should not have been needed.

Scan-to-BIM and as-built deliverables have to match the decision in front of you. Say whether the package is for layout, clash coordination, or fabrication-grade shop and prefabrication before the model locks. Then build to that Level of Development on purpose.

Lock the Level of Development to the decision before modeling starts, and hold the deliverable to that ask through shop and hang.
