🌧️ NOR’EASTER STORM UPDATE — VALHALLA 💨

A wet and windy weekend is ahead, and we’re asking everyone to use extra caution on the roads. Periods of heavy rain may lead to localized flooding, poor visibility, and hazardous driving conditions throughout the area.

⚠️ FLOODING CONCERNS
The Taconic Parkway can experience significant flooding during periods of heavy rain. The Valhalla Metro-North station parking lot also has known areas that can collect heavy water.

🚗 PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS.

Even if the water looks like a small puddle, do not assume it is shallow. Water depth can be difficult to judge, and just a few inches of moving water can create dangerous conditions. Turn around and find an alternate route.

⚡ DOWNED WIRES
If you see a downed power line, assume it is energized and dangerous.
• Stay far away
• Keep children and pets away
• Do not touch or approach the wire
• Do not drive over it
• Report it to the appropriate authorities/utility company

💨 BEFORE THE STORM
• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose objects
• Clear leaves and debris from storm drains
• Charge phones and flashlights
• Avoid unnecessary travel during the worst conditions
• Check on neighbors who may need assistance

🚒 Valhalla Fire Department reminds everyone: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

If you encounter an emergency, call 911.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe, Valhalla! 🌧️💨🚒

25 Years Later, We Remember

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and countless civilians who answered the call, and we remember the families and communities forever changed.

25 years later, their courage still inspires us. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

Happy Labor Day from the Valhalla Fire Department!

The Valhalla Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Alfonso Tarantino on successfully graduating from the Westchester County Firefighter 1 Certification Class!

Firefighter 1 is an important milestone for every new firefighter. The course provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to safely operate at emergency scenes, work as part of a fire company, and begin building the experience necessary to serve our community.

For our newest members, completing Firefighter 1 is just the first step in their journey as a volunteer firefighter. From here, there are countless opportunities to continue training, gain experience, and develop the skills needed to help protect our neighbors.

Alfonso, congratulations on this accomplishment! We’re proud to have you as a member of the Valhalla Fire Department and look forward to seeing all you accomplish.

Throwback Thursday!

Today we are throwing it back to when members of the Valhalla Fire Department, along with Engine 82 and Rescue 9, visited Kensico School for a fun Touch-a-Truck event!

Our members had a great time sharing the trucks, equipment, and fire service experience with the kids. It was awesome seeing their excitement as they got an up-close look at the rigs and learned a little about what we do in the community.

We love getting out into the community and sharing our firehouse family with the next generation!
