An ecosystem of scientists, doctors, innovators, thinkers, and translational storytellers, pioneering Did you know you are 50%¹ human? This is your microbiome.

You are home to a community of 38,000,000,000,000 bacteria (plus trillions of fungi, viruses, and archaea) that are reshaping our understanding of human health. It's your non-human half, that makes you human. And you can't live without it. Seed² is an ecosystem of scientists, doctors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and storytellers, who share a singular vision to improve human and planetary health through the microbiome. We combine human clinical research, proprietary technology, and innovations in biofermentation, stabilization, and testing, to develop a consumer health pipeline for the whole-body biome³—and to set a new standard for bacteria. ² Seeding is the process by which you receive your biological mother’s beneficial bacteria at birth. These first microbial partners form the foundation of your microbiome and immune system.

³ The majority of these bacteria and microbes reside in your gut, which is why you may have heard of the term ‘gut health’. But beyond your gastrointestinal tract, you also have communities of vastly different species that reside in areas like your nose, your groin, and your skin. Some microbes prefer to live on the cool, dry skin of your knee. Others gravitate towards the warm, wet darkness of your mouth. They are tiny ecosystems as different from each other as the rainforest and the desert.

This is the microbiome as we imagine it: sensory, living, connective, unseen.

A world you carry.
A world you feed.
A world that changes with you.

What image feels most like your inner world?

Some days will feel different than others. That does not mean you are starting from zero. It means your microbiome is a living system, responding to life and its seasons.

Treat yourself and your microbiome, gently.

The most gut-friendly things you do this fall may not look like “gut health” at all.

The gut microbiome is shaped by daily inputs: diet, environment, sleep, movement, social connection, and the gut-brain axis. Research has shown that diet can rapidly shape the gut microbiome, exercise may influence gut microbial communities, close social relationships are associated with gut microbiota composition, and the gut microbiome follows daily rhythms of its own.¹²⁴⁵⁶

In other words: fall is not just happening around you.

It is happening within you.

Save this so you know what is sneaky good for your gut this fall.

Fall produce is rich in the things your gut microbes love: fermentable fibers, polyphenols, beta-glucans, and fructans.

Autumn may just be one of your microbiome’s favorite season, and we tend to agree.

Save this for your next grocery run.

In Villanueva De La Vera, Spain, endangered Verata goats are part of a much larger living system.

As they move through the mountains, they help manage vegetation, reduce fire risk, support local food traditions, and contribute to the health of the land. Their role is also microbial: connecting soil, plants, animals, food, and people through their bacteria.

SeedLabs and our partners at SanaTerra are studying how these goats can fuel a new type of field experiment: One that unites human health, animal health, and microbial health for the greater good.

Swipe to follow them through a typical day climbing, grazing, and contributing to scientific discovery.

Notes from the field.

One Health is the understanding that human health, animal health, and environmental health are deeply connected. At Seed, we study microbes because they are the glue that binds them all together.

Together with our newest SeedLabs partner, SanaTerra, we are bringing this model to life in rural Spain—exploring how soil, food, animals, microbes, and people work as one connected system.

The goal: to better understand how caring for one part of the ecosystem can help support the health of the whole.

Surrounding the Aeolian island of Vulcano, Italy, carbon dioxide naturally seeps through the ocean floor, creating a highly acidic environment teeming with microbial life.

This is just one of the extreme locations where SeedLabs’ environmental research partners have conducted research. Swipe to see (and hear) more.

Today, on International Microorganism Day, we invite you to look around and consider: Every living thing you see descended from the same microbe.

Over billions of years, what started as a single cell evolved into the biological foundation of Earth as we know it.¹ It was the most successful experiment in history. And it’s not over yet.

At Seed, we pioneer microbiome science for human and planetary health. With SeedLabs, our environmental research initiative, we advance microbial solutions to recover ecosystems impacted by human activity and climate change.

One company. One Health. Trillions of microorganisms. Infinite experimentation.

The living world is shifting and you are not separate from it. The microbiome exists across bodies, plants, soil, air, and ecosystems. A world within. A world around us. Always in exchange.

This is September through the lens of the superorganism.

A universe in the center of a fruit. Seeds. Fibers. Color. Structure. The small architecture of something your microbiome can meet.

When you take a moment, you can take it in.

Cut into a fruit and you’ll see the memory of a flower.

The star in an apple core.
The separate chambers of citrus.
These unique internal patterns are shaped by symmetry, growth, and the original o***y that became fruit.

When you take a moment, you can take them in.
