π§ Healthy Hydration Starts with Water π§
As temperatures rise and kids become more active, staying hydrated becomes even more important. Water is the best choice for keeping children healthy, energized, and hydrated throughout the day βοΈ
Why choose water?
βοΈ Supports healthy growth and development
βοΈ Helps kids stay focused and active
βοΈ Keeps the body cool during outdoor play
βοΈ Avoids excess added sugars found in many drinks
Simple ways to encourage more water:
π₯€ Carry reusable water bottles
π Add fruit for natural flavor
β° Offer water regularly throughout the day
π Encourage water breaks during sports & outdoor activities
Healthy hydration habits built in childhood can last a lifetime π

βοΈ Sun Safety Starts Early βοΈ
Longer days and outdoor play are some of the best parts of summerβbut protecting your childβs skin is important all season long.
A few simple habits can make a big difference:
𧴠Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+)
πΆοΈ Wear hats and protective clothing
π³ Take shade breaks, especially during peak sun hours
π§ Stay hydrated during outdoor activities
Remember: sunburns in childhood can increase the risk of skin damage later in life. Helping kids build healthy sun safety habits now can protect them for years to come π
Questions about summer safety or your childβs health? Weβre here to help.

Summer brings fun, flexibility, and a change of paceβbut kids still benefit from routines βοΈ
Simple daily structure can help support better sleep, smoother behavior, emotional well-being, and easier transitions throughout the summer months.
A few ways to help prepare:
π± Keep bedtimes somewhat consistent
π± Balance activities with downtime
π± Encourage outdoor play and movement
π± Maintain regular meals and healthy snacks
π± Set screen time expectations early
Routines donβt need to be rigidβjust predictable enough to help kids feel secure and supported π
In addition, starting next week, Advanced Pediatrics will post about local activities you can do with your kids, to keep your whole family having fun this summer. Stay tuned!

Changes in routineβlike the end of the school year, vacations, or summer activitiesβcan affect both sleep and mood for children and teens π΄
When kids arenβt getting enough quality sleep, it may show up as irritability, emotional outbursts, trouble focusing, or increased anxiety. Maintaining a consistent bedtime routine can help support emotional well-being during seasonal transitions.
Helpful reminders:
βοΈ Keep bedtimes consistent when possible
βοΈ Limit screens before bed
βοΈ Encourage calming nighttime routines
βοΈ Make sure kids are getting enough sleep for their age
If sleep concerns are affecting your childβs daily life, our team at Advanced Pediatrics is here to help.
