Anyone who knows me knows that I usually prefer not to showcase the cakes I make as a good deed for this community or for charity, as I believe kindness doesn’t need a spotlight. However, I am making an exception today because sometimes spreading the word helps this cause reach even more families!🎂💪

I volunteer with Icing Smiles, Inc.,
a wonderful nationwide nonprofit organization that delivers custom dream cakes at no charge to children impacted by critical illness—and to their siblings, too. The organization actively encourages us to share these stories to connect with new volunteers and families in need.

I made this cake for Tommy who at a very young age had to battle Wilms tumor, a rare kidney cancer that mainly affects children. After a kidney removal, chemo and radiation, he is finally in remission! 💪

If you are wondering how I created the ocean and wave effects 🌊🎂, the secret lies in the art of sugar work. I heated a precise mixture of water, sugar, and corn syrup to a high temperature, then sculpted it as it cooled, utilizing techniques very similar to glassblowing.

A couple of minor finger burns, a massive mountain of patience, and a whole lot of time later... but hey, the result is totally worth the pain, right?! 🛠️❤️

As I always say, creating custom cakes like this is a true labor of love.💗 🎂🩷

Everything is 100% handmade and entirely edible... yep, even those shiny waves taste delicious! 😋

I made this custom cake to celebrate a lovely bridal shower. The design was inspired by the party's invitation, featuring a bright and cheerful palette of orange, pink, and white flowers🤍 🌺 🧡

This is what my customer wrote about this cake I made for her daughter’s graduation 🥹❤️:

“I reached out to Teresa, the incredible owner and artist at Dolce Ladybug to make a graduation cake for my daughter. Teresa took my vague ideas and turned them into a dream. From the design, to the cake, to the amazing flavor, she is truly an artist and I am so glad we were able to experience a slice of her magic for my daughter’s special day.

One thing I want to add that shows how truly invested she is in her cakes - between the time we came up with the design and the time of delivery, my daughter’s cat unexpectedly passed away. Teresa asked if I wanted to remove the design element and when I said I wanted the cat to stay (she was very important to us), Teresa made the suggestion to add angel wings. It truly was so thoughtful and brought tears to my girl’s eyes.

If you have a special occasion coming up, I HIGHLY recommend Dolce Ladybug. The guests raved about it and my son, who swears he doesn’t like cake, can’t wait for his graduation cake now!!!”

I had so much fun creating this cake to celebrate a double milestone: a daughter’s high school graduation (heading off to college to major in chemical engineering!) and her mom’s 50th birthday.
Her mom wanted a cake that combined both events into one theme.
Here is the result of my design: a “Congratulations” spelled out using periodic table elements, alongside a reagent bottle featuring the symbol for Tin (\(Sn\)), which marks the number 50 on the periodic table! 😊🧪🎂
