Scanning is Key
When receiving with a defender on your back, checking your surroundings helps you recognize when you can turn out and play forward.
Coach Chris applies pressure so Ella becomes more comfortable receiving in these situations.
Whether the ball is into your feet or in space, make sure that touch is on a good line and not giving away information
Jake gives Ali different pictures from behind. When the defender commits to one side, Ali protects and escapes the other way. When space is there, he turns and attacks forward.
Controlling the Ball Out of the Air
-> Settle the ball from Coach however you like but in the direction of the color gate called
-> Once the ball is settled, get to the called gate, play a give and go with Coach
-> Get on the end of the through ball and play the mini goal
Weight of Your First Touch to Goal
This drill simulates in and around the box from wide angles, balls fired into the player to deal with it and finish
Coach Kevin all summer has put Jayden in game like scenarios all over the pitch, and this was one of many added to his game
3 Person Passing Circuit
One player is primarily working but all players matter to this drill to make it work
The middle player is working on receiving and getting it back to then advance the ball forward to the small goal (teammate)
Actions Going Forward
Coach Kevin and Jayden work on the actions and movements to take on defenders and find teammates
Coach Kevin implements the passing around defenders and the 1v1 dribbles aspect for game like movements
Change of Speed + Beating Your Defender of One Touch
-> Get out past the rebounder in one, get past the cone in one touch (changing speed with those touches)
-> Take care of the ball around the cones then find a mini goal
This drill works on changing gears getting past defenders and taking out those extra touches that can slow you down
1st Progression -> Ball played through your legs - hear the color and have one touch to get around that color stick and explode out
2nd Progression -> Ball played through legs - kill touch to color said out loud - making sure you replant to get out and explode out
Directional touch to get you away from pressure advances the play to create opportunities
