The Potters Guild began in 1964 when several students of Paulus Berensohn established a workshop under his guidance. His role was a monitor, mentor, and a catalyst for us to find our way in clay. Our individual perspectives on making pottery evolved with the acquisition of a building on the grounds of the Community Arts Center in Wallingford and with the continual broadening of our membership in number and scope. Some of our current members are founding members, adding a rich element of history to The Potters Guild. Members share a library, resources, materials, equipment, and most important a common love and discipline of working in clay. The Potters Guild is committed to the continued vitality of pottery within our group of potters and in the thriving clay community in the Philadelphia area.

Paulus Berensohn can be considered the father of The Potters Guild, since his students were the ones who started it in 1964.
