This innovative partnership between Archbishop Ryan High School, the Philadelphia Archdiocese, and SafeTec Training Services represents something bigger than a training program. It is an investment in students, in our communities, and in the future of healthcare and emergency services.

By bringing an entry-level career certification directly into the high school environment, Archbishop Ryan is taking a forward-thinking approach to career education. Students now have the opportunity to graduate with more than a diploma. They can earn a nationally recognized EMS credential, gain real-world healthcare skills, and open the door to employment and further education in emergency medical services, nursing, fire service, healthcare, and other related careers.

This is exactly the kind of innovative thinking that creates real opportunities for young people while strengthening the communities they will one day serve.

And this is about much more than a training program.

It’s about investing in people. Building the EMS workforce. And finding new solutions to one of the biggest challenges facing EMS today — the provider shortage.

The Philadelphia Fire Department is taking a proactive, outside-the-box approach by creating opportunities for its members to expand their clinical capabilities and help strengthen the department’s EMS response.

As students across the region head back to school this week, SafeTec Training Services wishes everyone a safe, successful, and exciting school year! We hope this year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and discover what the future may hold.

🚑 We’re especially excited to announce a new opportunity for students at Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia!

This fall, SafeTec Training Services will launch an EMT Training Program at Archbishop Ryan High School, beginning September 14, 2026.

The semester-long program will give participating students the opportunity to earn their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification while still in high school.

For students interested in healthcare, public safety, emergency services, or simply looking for a career where they can make a difference, becoming an EMT can be an incredible first step toward a rewarding and meaningful profession.

🎓 Imagine graduating high school with more than a diploma—with a professional certification and the skills to begin a career helping others.

Students will learn the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to provide emergency care to patients in some of their most critical moments. For many, EMT certification can serve as the beginning of a career in EMS, fire/rescue, nursing, medicine, or other healthcare professions.

The Archbishop Ryan program will be our inaugural cohort, with additional cohorts anticipated in the future as we continue expanding opportunities for high school students to enter the EMS profession.

We are proud to partner with Archbishop Ryan High School to help introduce students to the rewarding world of emergency medical services and provide them with a pathway toward their future.
