Events like this are about more than backpacks and school supplies—they’re about showing our youth that their community is behind them and wants to see them succeed.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Cure the Streets DC Highlands Team for our Back-to-School Giveaway. The community came together for an evening filled with food, music, fun, backpacks, school supplies, and uniform shirts to help students start the new school year prepared and confident.

A special thank-you to our outreach team, volunteers, partners, and community members who helped make the event a success. Supporting our youth and families is an important part of building a safer, stronger Washington Highlands.

Two shootings. One community. One commitment to peace.

Today, the Cure the Streets Sursum Corda/Ivy City team responded following two separate shootings in the neighborhood.

Our violence interrupters were on the ground engaging residents, offering support, and working to prevent retaliation while connecting those impacted to available resources.

We refuse to let violence define our community. Together, we continue choosing healing over harm and hope over fear.

When our community hurts, we come together.

Following two recent shootings in the Sursum Corda/Ivy City neighborhood, Cure the Streets DC and Father Factor Inc. will host a Shooting Response to support those impacted, promote peace, and connect residents with resources.
