The Real Value of Influence Is Sitting Next to You.
By Thom Singer, CSP
Influence 2026 lands in my hometown of Austin, TX, this July 25–27 at the Hilton Austin. The theme is about building a better business, and if you’re attending, you should show up ready to learn. The main stage will be strong, the breakouts will be useful, and the hallway conversations will be everywhere. Bring a notebook and steal ideas ethically.
But after more than two decades around this profession, I can tell you the real value of the conference isn’t only on the stage. It’s in the audience.
Around 800 speakers will be...... READ MORE

Is Your Manuscript Really Ready for Publication?
By Cathy Fyock, CSP
You did it. You finished the first draft of your manuscript. That alone puts you in a very small (and very impressive) group. But now comes the question every author eventually asks: Is my book actually ready to go out into the world? Before you send your manuscript to a publisher…

I Wrote a Book in a Weekend. Here’s What Actually Happened.
By Alan Berg, CSP, FPSA, Global Speaking Fellow
If you’ve ever said, “I should write a book, or another book,” and then looked at your calendar and laughed, you’re not alone. I’ve written a lot of books, 14 so far, and I know the process. Outlining, writing, rewriting, editing, second-guessing. It’s not a weekend project….

Our NSA DC meeting last Saturday was a special one for many reasons. One post can't cover everything that happened between celebrations, awards, a highly-engaging interactive program, and a board planning meeting. So...please enjoy the highlights below and look for additional posts about this very special day. After all...we speakers have a lot to say!
First, the legendary Dr. Willie Jolley shared his journey of investing all of his savings into attending NSA's annual conference, Influence, which changed his life and set him up for a lifetime of success.
Our guest speaker, Carolyn Strauss, CSP, CRP, who flew in from Colorado to help us grow our businesses, then conducted the official swearing-in ceremony for our incoming board members. Sylvia Baffour, Lisa Conners, MBA, ACC, CPC, Front Row Frankie, David M. Posner, MBA, Tonya Kerry, Esq., Chazz Scott, MS.
We wholeheartedly thanked our outgoing board members, Natalie Holder, Esq., HRCI-SPHR, Gina Dolin, and Myla DeLoatch, CSP (she, her, hers).
In an emotional moment, Rob Clark our outgoing President, passed the gavel to our incoming President Sylvia Baffour. She has big shoes to fill, indeed! But, we know that she is up for the challenge.
Rob and Sylvia presented awards to members who consistently go above and beyond and create a positive community for everyone.
🤩 Carol Ann Lloyd Stanger, MEd, MA,FRHistS was presented with the Daly Award - the chapter's highest honor for on-going service.
🤩 Front Row Frankie was presented with the Make an Impact Award, the first year that has been presented.
🤩 Peter Laughter was recognized as Chapter Member of the Year.
And then...Carolyn Strauss, CSP, CRP shared her wisdom about how to stay current in our rapidly changing economy. She gave us a glimpse into her business background which included selling over $1M in items from her Carolyn Strauss Collection in one day at HSN! 😀 This created the foundation for her to launch a speaking business, including emceeing some of the most significant conferences in the world. It's safe to say that every attendee walked away with at least two action items to elevate their businesses.
But the day didn't end there! The new Board of Directors gathered in a conference room to brainstorm ideas for the future that would continue to engage and enrich members.
If this looks like a group you want to be a part of, or you'd like to hire a speaker/emcee, please reach out to anyone mentioned above! We'd love to speak!
