Jamaica’s major water storage facilities serving the Corporate Area remain under pressure due to the ongoing drought. As of September 28, 2026, the Mona Reservoir was at 33.6% of capacity, while the Hermitage Dam stood at 40.3%. Both levels are trending downward, underscoring the need for continued water conservation as the NWC manages available supplies.

As part of the response to the ongoing drought, 1,000 water storage tanks will be provided to the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) to support farmers and improve access to water for agricultural activities. The initiative will help farmers better manage limited water supplies and strengthen their ability to sustain production during periods of reduced rainfall.

During the drought, improving and expanding Jamaica’s water infrastructure is essential to strengthening water security and ensuring communities have more reliable access to water. Investments in pipelines, storage facilities, treatment systems and other critical infrastructure are helping to improve the distribution and availability of water, particularly in areas experiencing greater pressure on supplies.

As Jamaica continues to experience drought conditions, access to water is more important than ever.

To support our youngest learners, 1000 water storage tanks will be provided to early childhood institutions, helping to strengthen their water storage capacity and ensure they have water when they need it most.

Water is essential to our homes, communities, farms, schools and hospitals.

As Jamaica experiences drought conditions, conserving water is more important than ever. Every drop saved helps to protect our water supply and ensure that this precious resource remains available for those who need it most.
