Rural Dog Rescue
Forever true to "The Underdog", Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue.
We save the dogs who are at most risk of being euthanized: the hounds, the black dogs, the seniors, the sick and the broken. WE MAKE A COMMITMENT TO RESERVE A MINIMUM OF 50% OF THE DOGS WE SAVE TO THE UNDERDOG. Please visit our available pets on RuralDogRescue.com
This could be you ✨
Consider fostering or adopting with Rural Dog Rescue! We are a local, 100% volunteer based, shelter that focuses on the Underdog. Our org prioritizes rescuing high risk dogs in economically challenged, high-kill shelters in rural areas and dogs that are often overlooked for adoption or rescue.

We are in need of transportation help for 4 dogs (weight ranges 40 # - 67 #) from Fredericksburg to SE DC this Saturday around 2pm. Please email [email protected] if you can assist. Dogs do not travel with crates or leashes but supplies are available to pick up from SE DC if needed.
Please help if you can, it’s the last leg we need to fill from NC and we would hate to have to cancel transport!

Upcoming foster needs!! Rhiannon needs a foster by 9/21 and Shony needs a foster by 9/18 🚨
If you haven’t applied to become a foster yet, this is your sign! Without fosters, our underdogs are housed with DOGMA instead of in a loving home and puts a strain on RDRs resources. Apply to be a foster for Rhiannon or Shony today via the link in our bio🐾

Happy Hug-a-Hound Day! 🐾❤️
September is Hug-a-Hound Month, with a special day dedicated to celebrating our hound friends this weekend—and our hounds are more than ready for all the hugs! 🤗
Whether they’re your favorite walking buddy, couch companion, or resident snuggle expert, there’s no better time to show a hound some extra love. ❤️🐶
It’s kinda chic to foster dogs with us. 🐾✨
And right now, we have some pups who could really use your support. 🤍
