🎙️ What Comes After the Interview? Join the DC Oral History Collaborative for this Oral History Workshop on Monday, October 5 from 6-8PM at the MLK Library (901 G St NW, 4th Floor).

Oral history doesn’t end when the mics are off. Explore what happens after an interview is recorded and how oral historians can make those stories accessible to communities and the public.

We’ll discuss transcription and indexing, narrator feedback/consent, and a variety of approaches for sharing your interviews including film, exhibits, digital humanities projects, curricula, and other interpretive works.

It’s time. 💜

Black Love Documentary LLC is launching the Defining Love Community Salon Series, four free gatherings this fall bringing together film, The Black Love Book, guest voices, and community conversation around Black love and Black Love Day.

We’ll gather twice virtually and twice in person, with each salon asking a different question about how Black love is defined, practiced, challenged, and sustained.

Come to one. Come to several. Bring someone into the conversation with you.

Some of the voices helping shape Defining Love are rooted right here in Anacostia.

We’ve filmed community members at ONE DC and 1918 MLK Ave WDC as part of our ongoing effort to gather Black Washingtonians’ reflections on love for the Creator, self, family, community, and the Black Diaspora.

On September 11, we’re returning to Anacostia to share pieces of what we’ve been making and invite even more people into the conversation.

Come see clips from the film, spend some time with us, and tell us:

What does Black love mean to you?

We’ve been waiting to share this one. 💜

On September 11, we’re bringing Defining Love to Art All Night Anacostia.
We’ve spent the past several months listening to Black Washingtonians reflect on what Black love means to them. Now, we’re opening that conversation up even further.

Join us at ONE DC for an evening featuring clips from the film, music, breathwork, interactive programming, raffles, community conversation + more.

You’ll also have a chance to add your own voice to the question that started this project:

What does love mean to you?
