Recently, at Reach’s Summer Leadership Academy, representatives from Only Make Believe collaborated with Reach teens to create handmade costumes! Together, they spent the day tapping into their creativity and learning craft-making skills from the talented Only Make Believe team, creating art for a purpose.

The creations Reach teens crafted will be used in interactive theatre performances for children in hospitals, giving young patients a joyful experience and a chance to engage their imaginations despite their circumstances. It’s a powerful reminder that creativity can be a source of comfort and connection, even in the hardest moments.

We’re so grateful for partners like Only Make Believe, who help our teens see that their hands-on skills can bring real joy to others. Reach looks forward to another year of meaningful, creative collaboration!

Last week, we celebrated the power of finding freedom in your own words. Teens at Summer Leadership Academy came together to do just that, offering heartfelt feedback on poems written by people currently incarcerated, and wrote back to share poems of their own.

With the support of Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop Poet Ambassadors, who generously shared their personal stories of incarceration, transformation, and hope—the teens explored themes of justice, dignity, and the freedom that comes from telling your own story. The Poet Ambassadors’ words reminded us that liberation isn’t just a destination; it’s a practice, a page, a voice finding its way into the light.

This past week has been very emotional as we celebrated the incredible achievements of graduating Reach tutors.
We are so proud of each and every graduate and all of the hard work that brought them to this special moment! 🎊

We are also proud to give special recognition to the Ballou Valedictorian and Salutatorian, who are two of our own Reach tutors!!!
Congratulations to the Class of 2026; it’s time for your next adventure and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you accomplish next!🎓✨
