This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.
WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

Nirple and Brisket getting ready for a walk together. Two great dogs that would do well with any family.
Nirple ( the hound standing next to Miss Jamie) is a 5-6 year old Coonhound mix, up to date with shot, heartworm negative, neutered and chipped. Very friendly, good with other dogs and kids.
Brisket is the tan and white Pit/Staffordshire Terrier mix who is 4-5 years old, up to date with shots, heartworm negative, neutered and chipped. He is one of the calmest and gentlest dogs at the shelter. He is good with other dogs and kids.
Looking for a low key buddy ( or two)? Come meet these boys and you will not be disappointed.
