Your role at Expo: Behavioral Intervention specialist

How long have you been at Expo: Under a year

What is your favorite part of your job? : Being able to motivate my students and give them 8 hours of peace and love.

What is one thing that instantly makes your day better? Kwik Star Scotocheroos or C4 energy drink

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without? The gym its a place of peace and reset my mind.

What is something that always makes you smile? My friends and family that support me even when im down. And my Cat.

What are your hobbies? Pro Wrestling & Vlog on tiktok ( Time out)

What do you wish more people would understand about you? I want to spread more love and uplift people around me. A strong house is a safe place to live in.

Your role at Expo: HSEDP Teacher

What is your favorite part of your job? Greeting the kids that show up and building relationships!

What are your hobbies?
I have a lot of hobbies and tend to find new ones all the time. I enjoy fishing, building and creating things, and spending time with my family. I have an amazing wife who puts up with me, 4 boys in all stages of life, and now we have two cats.

What is the greatest challenge or struggle you have ever faced?
One of the greatest challenges I have faced was deploying to Iraq while serving in the U.S. Army. During that deployment I missed the birth of my son and did not get to see him again until he was about 1 year old. It taught me a lot about sacrifice, resilience and how valuable family is.

What is your favorite holiday?
Halloween-without a question! I love everything about it, but especially the creative side. I enjoy building props and sculptures for my yard. For me, Halloween isn't just one day; Half the fun is spending months designing and building everything leading up to it.

Your role at Expo: Virtual Social Studies Teacher

What is your favorite part of your job?
Building positive relationships with my students and their families, as well as my coworkers who have been very helpful these first couple of weeks.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy playing/watching sports and spending time with my family.

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas

What is on your bucket list?
Visit every MLB stadium.

💙 Waterloo Schools extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Josh Tack.

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic loss of Josh, who lost his life in an accident over the weekend.

Josh was an important part of the Waterloo Schools family. He taught and coached at Hoover Middle School, then taught and coached at West High School, and later taught at Expo Alternative Learning Center. Throughout his time with Waterloo Schools, Josh built meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues and made a lasting impact on the lives of the young people he served.

As the son of a longtime Waterloo Schools employee, Josh’s connection to our district ran even deeper. His dedication to students, his passion for helping young people succeed, and the positive influence he had on those around him will not be forgotten.

A 2011 graduate of Hudson High School, Josh dedicated his career to supporting students and helping them find their path forward. His legacy will live on through the many students, colleagues, and families whose lives he touched.

We stand alongside Josh’s family and loved ones, as well as the entire BCLUW school community, during this heartbreaking time. We are keeping everyone who knew and cared for Josh in our thoughts and surrounding them with care and support.
