Hospitality House
The Cedar Valley Hospitality House is a non-profit organization that provides day-time shelter, support, and encouragement to the homeless and those in need.
Hospitality House Mission -- Our mission is to uphold the dignity and value of every human person by providing shelter, basic amenities, and social service advocacy to those who are homeless or marginalized. The Cedar Valley Hospitality House opened in December 2009. Hospitality House is dedicated to providing meaningful and quality services to persons regardless of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, marital status, socio-economic status, and religion. We celebrate diversity and strive to meet each individual’s culturally specific needs.

Yesterday the front door at Hospitality House opened and a person came into the dining area.
Standing in front of me, he asked "Do you remember me?"
Looking a little closer I did recognize him as a previous guest from several years ago.
Looking very healthy.
Eyes having a sparkle.
Looking at me when he spoke.
Clean clothes.
Fresh haircut.
Clean shaven.
Holding keys.
He was beaming with pride as he said he had been clean for over 2 years, has a good job, has a vehicle, has an apartment.
The next words he said...
"I just wanted to stop and say thank you for what you did for me.
There wasn't another person or agency in this town that would help me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for this place."
Wow. How humbling for us. You never know the impact you have on someone or their life in many circumstances.
Every person matters.
We work hard to build the relationship and help...to give HOPE.
We can only do this because of YOU, our Village of Support ❤️.
You lift us up and give us the resources to help out guests.
You are appreciated.

So many diverse issues every single day working with the homeless and marginalized.
How do we continue to help our guests when sometimes it really gets heavy?
When we get the call that one of our guests was found deceased under the bridge?
When we hear that one of our Warming Center guests from this past winter committed su***de...
When one of our guests hasn't been here for a couple weeks and no one has seen him...
When the numbers of unsheltered homeless keeps increasing with no housing options...
My necklace says it all...."God's got this..."
He is our strength 💪 day after day...the reason we can provide HOPE giving us YOU- our Village of Support ❤️
Thanks for walking this journey with us.
You are so appreciated!
