“Are Muslims trying to implement Sharia law?”

Dr. Haq breaks down what Sharia actually means—and why the reality is very different from what many people assume.

Sharia isn’t simply a political system or a list of punishments. It encompasses a Muslim’s everyday religious obligations, ethics, family life, worship, and how we treat other people.

And honestly… Muslims have plenty of work to do just following it ourselves. 😅

A little behind-the-scenes from our recent Ask-A-Muslim event 🤍

We had some really meaningful conversations, answered questions, shared resources, and got the opportunity to simply meet people where they were.

Dawah isn’t about arguing or forcing anyone to believe anything. It’s about being willing to have a conversation, answer questions honestly, and help people understand Islam from Muslims themselves.

And we’re excited to keep doing just that! 💙

If you have questions about Islam, want to learn more, or would like to be part of our next Ask-A-Muslim event, send us a message!

🌿 Ask a Muslim — Market Day Recap

Alhamdulillah! 🤍 Our ASIA Center Dawah Committee had the opportunity to host an “Ask a Muslim” booth at Saturday’s Market Day at the Four Points by Sheraton West in Katy!

It was a beautiful day of meeting our neighbors, answering questions, sharing information about Islam, and simply connecting with people face-to-face.

A few highlights from the day:

📖 20 Qur’ans distributed
📚 Numerous informational pamphlets shared on a variety of topics
👥 ~50 people stopped by our booth for conversations
❤️ Positive and respectful interactions throughout the event
🕌 4 people requested follow-up information and/or expressed interest in visiting a mosque

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

What mattered most were the conversations. We had the opportunity to listen, answer questions, clear up misconceptions, and connect with people one-on-one. Every interaction reminded us how valuable respectful, face-to-face engagement can be.

The event was also an important learning experience for our Dawah Committee. We came away with new ideas, valuable experience, and a better understanding of how to make our outreach even more effective as we continue participating in events throughout our local community.

A special thank you to Sr. Jennah for leading the Dawah Committee group, and to Sr. Isha and Abdullah Khan for participating! 🌱

We were also grateful to welcome Jalen Robinson, Campaign Associate for Gina Hinojosa, to our booth and have the opportunity to connect with him.

And of course, there was plenty of fun along the way — including Abdullah getting some attention while holding a snake 🐍 and Sr. Jennah having some great conversations with visitors!

May Allah accept our efforts, guide us to represent Islam with wisdom and beautiful character, and make every conversation beneficial. Ameen. 🤲💙

📍 Market Day Festival — Katy, TX

What a wonderful day connecting with our local community at the Market Day Festival at the Four Points by Sheraton in Katy! 🌿☀️

We were grateful to welcome Jalen Robinson, Campaign Associate for Gina Hinojosa, to the ASIA Center booth. It was a great opportunity to meet, share, and have meaningful conversations about our community. 🤝

We also had plenty of fun at the booth! 🐍 Abdullah got to show off one of the festival’s special visitors while Sisters Jennah and Isha spent time having wonderful conversations with community members and answering questions about Islam and the ASIA Center.

Events like these remind us how important it is to build bridges, meet our neighbors, and create spaces for genuine conversation and understanding. 💙

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and spent time with us! We hope to see you again soon, insha’Allah. 🌙

📖 Tafseer at ASIA Center

Tonight at ASIA Center, we gathered for our Tafseer class as we completed our final review of Surah Āl ʿImrān.

Before diving into our study, we shared a delicious dinner together featuring biryani lovingly prepared by our own Brother Taher and his family. It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food and fellowship before turning our attention to the Qur’an.

After completing our review of Surah Āl ʿImrān, we also had a preview of the next surah we’ll be studying: Surah An-Nisāʾ.

🌙 Interested in understanding the Qur’an more deeply?
Our Tafseer class is a place to go beyond simply reading the words—to explore their meaning, context, lessons, and how they apply to our lives today. We meet every Tuesday, between Maghrib and Isha, and the class is free to attend.

Whether you’re new to studying Tafseer or have been studying the Qur’an for years, we invite you to join us next week as we begin our study of Surah An-Nisāʾ.

📖 Come for the Qur’an.
🤝 Stay for the community.
🌱 Grow in understanding.

Everyone is welcome.
