Webster Police K9 Unit

We would like to thank the Indian Ranch for allowing us to host our inservice training for our regional group. This included K9 teams from Amherst, Auburn, Chicopee, East Longmeadow, West Springfield, Monson, the Mass Environmental Police, and Killingly Ct.

We also had special visitors from Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog, Demo dogs Grimlock and Shiva. Indian Ranch was kind enough to allow our dogs to train narcotic, firearm, and EOD detection at their venue, which included the Indian Princess, which was a new environment for many of the pooches.

Two weeks ago, our K9's attended the Mass Police Working Dog Association workshop at the Westover Air Force base in Chicopee.

K9's Bolo, Murphy, and OJ all participated and certified with the National Police Working Dog Association in their different specializations. K9's Bolo and OJ with their handlers both hold two national certifications as a Patrol dog team (Bolo) and Narcotic Detection (OJ). K9 Murphy passed his first Comfort dog and Tracking certification.

Pictured below are all three teams with their handlers. Officer Mehlhouse with K9 Murphy, Officer Aaron Suss with K9 Bolo, and Officer Thomas Motyka with K9 OJ.

We want to congratulate Officer Tom Motyka and K9 OJ on their latest narcotic find. Unfortunately we were late reporting it! K9 OJ helped Officers locate 13g of co***ne as a result of a motor vehicle stop by another Officer. Our bad guy was arrested and charged with motor vehicle and drug possession with intent to distribute offenses.

Pictured below is Officer Motyka and K9 OJ. Included are a couple of photos of her doing a search during a recent training and the drugs located by Officers during their investigation. Great Job K9-3!

Our condolences to Deputy Matt Taylor and the rest of the HCSO on the unexpected loss of K9 Esso. Our K9's train with the HCSO and saw firsthand how great of a K9 Esso was.

This past Friday K9 OJ assisted our neighbors at the Dudley Police Department with a roadside narcotics investigation. K9 OJ was able to locate and show her human officers where their suspect had hidden user amounts of crack co***ne and fentanyl inside a vehicle.

This is the team's first official street find together, with what we're sure will be more to come! Great Job OJ! For more information you can read it at the DPD's FB page at Dudley Police Department

Our K9's want to thank Selectwoman Elaine Davies, who recently gave them a gift of extra large tennis balls and a nice card thanking K9's Bolo and OJ for attending the March 13th meeting. Our program would not have been able to survive the last 20 years without support from the town government and it's residents! Here's a picture of all three of our pups enjoying their new toys!
